Ben Neo Retro: "I'm porting OutRun (Sega, 1986 arcade) to the Neo Geo. Here is the first display prototype: arcade on the left, Neo Geo on the right.The road, scenery, trees and cars are all Neo Geo sprites, and the text uses the fix layer. The frames are computed offline from the arcade game, then replayed on Neo Geo. The road engine is not ported to 68000 yet, so this is not a playable game yet.Rendered in MAME with UniBIOS 4.0, nothing tested on real hardware so far. Some approximations remain, such as checkerboard shadows and a few distant objects missing.Music: techno track made for this video, unrelated to the OutRun soundtrack.Next: the road engine on the 68000, sound, then a test on a real console.
