Batteries are not that expensive, really. Only the top quality ones are. You probably don't get that on your PS3 controller or on your Xbox 360 "play and charge" kit. Controllers are this generation's memory cards: an easy way to rip off consumers. How many third party wireless controllers are there for each system?
So if batteries aren't expensive and neither is bluetooth, why am I paying 20 euro more for a more fragile controller?
I know, I know: business. But still, it's horrible value for the money.

If you are making a controller with a 1.5m cable you might as well not bother. Short cables are on par with Nintendo's Friend Codes in terms of stupidity. I'm guessing wired controllers used to be so so in terms of pricing, they had a proprietary port to connect to the system after all. Ethernet cables do not count, those are all purpose. They can even be used as belts or as whips. ;)
Yes, they had a proprietary port. But nowdays there's USB. Xbox had a cabled USB controller when it launched that sold for about 20 bucks less. Then they phased it out.
And I'm sorry, I meant 2/2.5 meters (like the DS1/2). I just mentally measured it and I'm terrible at that.. I now confirmed it's 2 meters long.

I take really good care of my controllers and so far only one my first SIXAXIS controller is starting to goof up. I've had it for a good while now and I bought it used.
I need to invest in a Dualshock3 though, I would really like to have one. =)

Definitely worth it.  Aside from the rumble, the added weight makes them feel much more solid.

Well, I guess it's alright if you don't beat them up.. But I still wouldn't call the Dualshock3 solid..

Compared to the Sixaxis, they definitley are.  I got my system when MGS4 came out, so I had the bundle that came with the Dualshock.  A friend of mine got the system earlier, and his controllers felt like cheap toys compared to the current ones. They just felt a bit hollow.

I've had like 5 Dreamcast controllers at one time, the only one who started to malfunction was the Mad Catz third-party one.

My third party Saturn controller(my original Saturn pad just dissapeared into thin air) was still working at the time.

NICE FUCKING WORK DUAL SHOCK 3.

Now the controller doesn't turn on at all! No red lights, nothing.
When I plug it by USB the 4 red lights blink continuously (so the controller isn't totally useless), but I can't do anything with it!

Any ideas? :/

Go to Sony's headquarters and break a window with it?

Seriously? Call them. Didn't you buy your system like last week?

(unless it shows signs of massive punishment)

Did you try pressing the tiny reset button on the controller? A paperclip usually works well for pressing it.

I can say I just lost two of the screws :/
You think they'll take it back at fnac? Or maybe I could fool someone at Game into buying it..

I've now pressed the reset button. It had no effect on anything whatsoever.. :c

I didn't know there was such a thing.  Scary.  I take it there's no extended warrantee for that sort of thing?

Nah, its an issue with some of the 60gb, sadly I got it after so long. I will probably patch it up (youtube vids) sell it on ebay, get a slim. I have not played a PS2 game in a year, so its not that huge of a loss

My PS3 still has more than year and half of warranty left.. It wouldn't be much of a big deal for me :P
But how did that happened? Out of the blue? Or is it caused by something?

Yellow Light of Death, basically, indicates 'hardware' failure. Basically if anything has 'failed' it will give you the error. Some say that formatting the HDD fixes it, like 2-3% of the time. Most of the time is the soldering between the CPU/GPU and MB. Though I don't think that is what is wrong with mine. I think the fan failed, cuz when I turn it on, it still boots up properly, then after 3 mins it shuts and gives me the error.

I can't hear a fan start up.
