Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love thread

New trailer!

[youtube:13eg4zie]9UUL_MhA8MA[/youtube:13eg4zie]

I know a lot of you have been curious about the series for quite some time now, and it is coming late next month, so not much longer now. It will be released on PlayStation 2 for $40 with an art book and on Wii for $30 (and has a way better boxart).

I never actually played this one in the series, but if you want to know anything I will see if I can answer the question. I think Storm will be able to help out more, though!

I've never played any of them. Where do I start? Can I start with this one?

Might as well start with this one unless you can read Japanese. It is a stand alone release, so you do not really need to learn much to understand the universe, I assume they will explain everything well. It has connections to the rest of the series, but almost all of the characters are new in this game.

EDIT: Looks like Wii owners can get the artbook for the same price as the PlayStation 2 if they order from this site: http://rosenqueen.com/product.php?produ ... t=0&page=1

The PS2 version comes with a second disc that has the Japanese voice track on it as a bonus.
I'm really looking forward to giving this series a go.  I think I'll go with the PS2 version, even though it means I'll be buying a new PS2 to play it (my old one's broken).

My PS3 plays PS2 games, so PS2 it is. I just hate turning on my Wii. I seriously only turn it on for SEGA games.

Naka Yuji must burn in hell for killed my fav series

LOL! They have changed Rikaritta's name to Rosita!? LOLOL! She is the first latin america girl on the series. She is extremely annoying.

Koei Tecmo is handling the game? How much Sega will earn with this? This game was also the last game from Ohba at Sega...  :|

Too bad you there are getting the worst one on the series

Here's an image of the PS2 Premium Pack:

Looks like the outer case will be different art from the game case, which looks to be in a cardboard sleeve.

I'm totally getting this, even if I only play halfway through it. I have to be able to say that I played a Sakura Taisen game in my lifetime.

And hey! Print out a high rez Sega logo and place it over the NIS logo. ;)

The "special version" for the original Japanese version: SHOW TIME BOX.

 And the regular package design:

The charcter designer is also famous for work on the Tales of~ series...

So basically it's meant to look like a Namco game?

It means that Sega have to pay more and more royalties to others, making the series unviable to produce now.

He does the characters creation, design the package art and a bit more, but the designs inside the game are drawn by another artist. The digital colors ones are drawn by a different artist.

Sega have to pay Studio I.G. for the CGs and animations, Tanaka Kouhei for the sounds, Red for the production and the character designer for the characters... that's why Naka Yuji was not happy with the series.

Neither would I, especially with a series that is declining in sales and probably a series that would never ever make it big in regions outside of Japan. That's a good business decision if you ask me. Seems to be blog down with so much little point in trying to keep it alive.

Eh, I'm not really into dating sims with generic Anime rubbish characters, I might give it a miss.

The "Dating" is only based on how much your team and your enemies see you. It is the exact same thing as being good and evil in other games except more varied.

Unless you were joking, in which case, jokes on me!
