The thing is though.... After watching gameplay of 'Duty Calls' it doesnt really look like a fun experience or even very funny.

What would have REALLY been awesome is if they made a game that had the jokes in it but it was actually a fleshed out, awesome shooter.

Right now they are kind of coming off as kind of pissants trying to drum up some interest in their own game by calling other peoples games 'boring'.

To be honest I haven't really cared much for any Epic games since Unreal 2... While I actually quite enjoy CoD:MW2.

You realise this is an ad for Bulletstorm right?

When has a game developer ever made a full game as an advertisement just as a joke?

They are just making fun of how almost all of these war games are the same nowadays. It is not just a jab at Call of Duty. If you watch some interviews they mention they actually love those games, they just want something different.

Also, if anyone did not notice, the trailer I posted was a parody of this.

You expect them to make a full, polished game for a quick satire? It's just a 3 minute demo made to poke fun at the genre.

I'm pretty sure an EA team made a cell shaded battle field like game for free... If I remember correctly.

But what I'm saying is, there’s parody and there is this.

When I first heard about this 'Duty Calls' and I didn't know much about it I thought they had made a proper, small but free game as a parody of COD with all the 'jokes' but the exact same gameplay as to sneakily make a COD clone (like everyone else is doing these days) but disguise it as parody.

But it turns out its a really poorly made 2 minute demo, it didn’t convince me to buy their games or that COD was bad...

Unless they can make something BETTER then COD, which they haven’t yet... It almost seems as though they are doing a Halo parody trailer and a COD parody demo as a way to try and falsely convince people their game is in the same league.

I'm not going to argue, because I really don't understand what you are getting at.

It's a throw-away little parody to advertise their game, don't overthink it.

Yes, and that is only free because they charge you for your upgrades. Apparently it sucks, too.

Your reasoning honestly makes no sense. Duty Calls was not made to make you hate Call of Duty or love Bulletstorm, it is a simple parody. It is NOT supposed to be a full game.

It is like saying a commercial needs to be a movie to get the point around.

None of those are designed as jokes...

They are all also built off of the same game they are based on, so comparing those to Duty Calls is kind of weird too. This was just a simple jab, not really at Call of Duty entirely, but war FPSs overall. Like I said, the developers actually like those games, they just wanted something different when they made Bulletstorm, and this was made to make that point more obvious.

Because that is a real life war scenario.

It is nothing like that, commercials are trying to get you to buy a product or watch a movie... 'Duty Calls' isnt trying to get you to do either...

It doesnt matter if those games are jokes (even though 'Whats Shenmue' and the Santa thing in Toy Commander are clearly jokes.)
I'm sure that the duty calls game is on one of their existing engines theres no way they made an entire engine for that.

What I'm saying is they could have expanded on that duty calls idea and made a fun little game out of it. The demo, meh. Wasnt very good.
