I assume he's blowing smoke out of the gaping holes cut in his face.

Prince of Persia

Issues with story
[spoiler:1dgj1m4n]Basically, the main character is adopted by the king. The brother is jealous so he leads a shitty war against a defenseless city to get the 'Sands of Time' to go back in time and 'not save' his brother from being killed when they are kids. That way he can become king.

After he gets the sands of time, he decides to take his plan to James Bond villain status but screwing up everything. He has the dagger on him, gives poison cloak to one of the King's sons, which gives it to the main character to present to the king. He gives it and its poison. The king dies and the lead character is blamed. He escapes and the princess (that they conquered) takes the Sands of Time away from the brother (why he had it with him, I don't know) and they go on a adventure, to unveil the truth.

But what could have happen? The brother could have just used the dagger, went back and not bothered with killing his brother with the poison. In the end, he would have died anyway.

But then there was the plot that you had to 'dig underground' to 'find enough sand' to travel that far. But the brother was already digging in secret and was found. He could have used the 'remaining' sand to go back in time, before the war against the dagger, meaning he will have the dagger and no one would suspect him. Continue digging and go back and finish the job.[/spoiler:1dgj1m4n]

Worth watching once if you have an HDTV and Blu-ray player, as the visuals are amazing. The story and characters however are "meh". Every character is a sterotype: the tough angry general, the rich businessman, the hardass scientist, the liberal scientist, the geeky scientist, the injured marine, the tribal chief, the chief's daughter. Not one engaging or original character among them. Also, stereotypical military phrases get old fast: "Lock and load!", "let's move ladies", "smoke em if you got em!". Plot was a cross between the Matrix, Ferngully and Dances With Wolves. In fact, I guessed the ending at the halfway mark due to all the not-so-subtle hints being dropped.

Overall, 6/10. Visual effects were a solid 9/10, story was a 4/10.

Oh yeah, at times, I pretended that the animals they flew were from Panzer Dragoon.

Yeah, it looked a lot like Ferngully in space to me.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who did that.

What's up with his venting cheeks in your avatar?

Yep, basically blowing cigarette smoke out of the cuts in his cheek. He does some pretty disturbing/cool stuff with that extended smile throughout the film.

Just came from a Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1 screening.

And here's my rant:
[spoiler:3a3sme8y]Nothing f***ing happens, the plot takes forever to get to the point, we only get to the important stuff 20 minutes before the movie's over.

If you haven't read anything on HP novels or remember what happenned in the previous movies, you will be completely lost here.[/spoiler:3a3sme8y]

We watched LOTR: TFOTR on blu-ray last night. What a good movie, and looks great in HD.

I can't wait to see the new Harry Potter movie, but I know I won't get to see it until I get back home from my extended vacation. xD

SPOILER: Dumbledore is gay.

I remember hearing that from the author in an interview sometime. Who was it that he was interested in again?

I let my girlfriend in on this and she was pretty shocked. My sister on the other hand was like, *shrug*, "yeah, I can see that."

He was in love with Gellert Grindelwald. Read this article for more details:

http://www.the-leaky-cauldron.org/2007/ ... cores-more

It's assumed that she didn't reveal him as being gay in the books for fear of public hysteria and homophobic outrage (especially in America, where certain Christians already considered the books to be "heathen").

Fair enough.  I don't remember who Gellert Grindelwald is though.

Nor do I. xD I've never read the books, and I can only faintly remember the names of minor characters from the movies.

But even so, the thought of a young gay Dumbledore is rather cute. n_n

I remember hearing about this and it almost felt like a publicity stunt (not that HP needs any more popularity). Like, why give a fictional character a sexuality like that when there it seemingly has no relevance to the story? Then again I haven't read the books, but it seems to me like if someone said "oh yeah, by the way Clint Eastwood's character in 'A Fistful of Dollars' was actually Jewish"

Well, that's probably another reason why she left it out... aside from the fact that she wanted to avoid homophobic American boycotts, it also wouldn't have made a HUGE impact on the story (aside from adding extra emotional power to Dumbledore's relationship with Grindelwald).

But yes, in fact, he was gay. ^^;;;

I watched Vampires Suck last night.

I'm trying to resist the urge to throw up when I think about that "movie".

I haven't been this sick to my stomach about a movie since Antichrist and Halloween 2.
