It’s been revealed that Mauro Xavier is on the development of Mega 99Vidas.

Mauro Xavier is also heading the development of Final Fight MD, an amazing fanmade Genesis port of Capcom’s arcade classic, and one of the inspirations for 99Vidas, Final Fight. Final Fight MD is still work-in-progress as of this writing. Still, based on that, I’d say Mega 99Vidas is in excellent hands.

"In our (harle)quest to deliver a smooth and responsive gameplay experience, we've made the engine capable of determining which polygons are opaque or translucent by inspecting the materials and textures of the objects being rendered. This has lead to a 4x rendering speed up in some of our more complex scenes and gets us closer to our final rendering approach for shipping the game.
We also managed to solve a long-standing issue where drawing a large number of polygons in the same part of the screen would cause them to flicker or vanish, sometimes even causing a crash. This was a problem relating to how we set up VRAM in the Dreamcast's graphics processor, and although it took a while to solve, things look a lot better now!

Another improvement was to re-sync our animation playback from 24 frames per second to 30 frames per second while locking the game's update tick at a fixed timestep of 30fps. Simply put, this makes the gameplay ..."

Yeah, that's what's written on Their Twitter page too :

"Our  team has invested money and effort into developing this project and the  port for the Super Nintendo. But unfortunately, for some reason unknown  to us, the head of the Meridian4 campaign, Jeff Giasson, refused to  pay us money when we prepared a batch of games for shipping.



The entire batch of games is already completely ready and is ready to be sent, but we never received the money. Don’t even have anything to send it to you with. The only option after a refund is to buy the game in our store."

It's still one sided, but since so far there are no comments from Jeff Giasson or Meridian4 denying this, it could be true ... for now.
Kinda sad that this whole drama had to be happened.

ROM Hacking Website No Longer Accepting Homebrew Games "Of Any Kind"

Homebrew section will likely be removed with next major site update.
It's unclear exactly why Romhacking.net is making this decision, but if we had to guess it's likely down to its relative inactivity compared to the other sections on the site, which typically have thousands of entries in comparison to just under a couple hundred.
