Hence they (or at least Shun Nakamura) wanted to give Sonic '06 and Shadow (2005) a chance  but in the end it's not their call, it's up to SEGA.

Year of Shadow was the perfect opportunity to give Shadow's game another chance!

Year of Shadow was the perfect opportunity to give Shadow's game another chance!

It would be met with harsh criticism again.
I still think what they did last year was the perfect choice.
Made a game about Shadow, tied it with Shadow's legacy (SA2, Heroes, Shadow 05, Sonic 06), and bundled it with one of the best Sonic game.
And that what Sonic x Shadow Generations was. A success.
