Dreamcast Virtua Cop 2 Didn't Need An English Translation, But It Has One Anyway

Derek Pascarella has kindly created a patch that translates a few pieces of Japanese text into English.
"Announcing my new English translation patch that almost didn't even need to be created," Pascarella says on social media, adding:
As a standalone game, Virtua Cop 2 was only released in Japan. However, Sega Smash Pack: Volume 1 included an English-language version of the game. Mostly because I could, I decided to swap in the English assets from the Smash Pack release to produce a standalone version. Certainly, it adds very little to gameplay experience, other than on-screen messages, VMU save/load messages, level title screens, and VMU metadata.

SEGA leaks reveal revivals for classic IPs like Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio with original staff on Unreal Engine 5.

Fans Campaign For Shenmue 4 With Times Square Ad In New York

The ad was placed by a fan site, Shenmue Dojo. The stated goal of Shenmue Dojo's campaign is to "support the continuation of the series and attempt to spread global awareness to find [developer] Ys Net a potential partner for Shenmue 4." The Times Square ad also included the hashtag #LetsGetShenmue4.
In the short term, the campaign successfully managed to get Shenmue trending on X. However, getting a fourth game in the series may still be an uphill battle. Shenmue III debuted to mixed or negative reviews in 2019, and the sales weren't high enough to immediately warrant a sequel. I think the fact SHenmue III wasn't endorsed by Sega might have been a factor in hinderence.

Imagine Yakuza games, but with all the Sega content removed. Sure it would still be worth while to play, but it wouldn't be the same wouldn't it?

Also like the new Yakuza sequel (Infinite Wealth) without Nagoshi's case, SEGA might prefer to make it without Yu Suzuki (since he's not at SEGA anymore).
But since Yu Suzuki wouldn't like that, to respect for him SEGA chose to give Shenmue's sequel right to Yu Suzuki and let him do whatever he wants with it.

It's hard to accept Shenmue is no longer a Sega game when Shenmue was the second best-seller for the Dreamcast next to Sonic Adventure and Ryo Hazuki is recognised as a Sega All-Star.


I admit it be shallow to presume a game didn't sell well due to corporate representation, but would you much rather be collecting Sonic and Sega figurines over... these?

The game didn't sell well because the gameplay felt ... outdated and samey.
I don't really like to compare it to Yakuza but I did still enjoy playing Yakuza series more than Shenmue 3.
Shenmue 1 & 2 was really phenomenal when they're released but Shenmue 3 was really way too late.
