But the joke wasn't directed to Sonic, it was directed to the fandom.
If I'm not mistaken the old-designed Sonic says this to Dale  :
"The internet saw my human teeth and burned the place down.”

Box Office: May 13-May 15, 2022

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was Number One at the box office in the United States over the weekend for the second week in a row with $61 Million for $291.8 Million.
The Bad Guys was Second for the second week in a row at the box office with $7 Million.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was Third for the second week in a row at the United States box office with $4.6 Million for $175.8 Million so far. Worldwide, the film has made $338.4 Million.

Not quite. He said he was getting a TV series where he ride along side the FBI.
"Ugly Sonic, Ugly Crimes".
The running gag was whenever he was lying or not given it was highly doubtful Ugly Sonic had such a gig.

Ugly Sonic leads the FBI to arrest Pete, so he's definitely one in charge.
The thing he said getting a TV series where he ride along side the FBI could be a lie so that people won't suspect him if he saw them hanging out ith FBI.

Well.. He's only showing up three minutes on screen so different interpretation could happen.
For me, I don't think this movie is insulting Sonic, and I believe SEGA and Paramount are okay with it too.

Sonic Advances to $375 Million Globally as Sonic 2 Continues to Go Strong

This is, notably, the last weekend before Sonic 2 hits Paramount+ and Epix broadcast channals, so this may be the last major box office jump we’ll be getting until its Japanese release this summer.
At $375 million, Sonic 2 is now just $25 million away from $400 million. Can it reach it? Maybe. Not everyone has Paramount Plus, and if Sonic 2 can continue to make a few million in the US and a few million over seas every week for another month, that will add up.
The big wild card, of course, is Japan.
