Universal Pictures will be producing a film adaptation of SEGA’s Shinobi  and the studio has enlisted “Extraction” filmmaker Sam Hargrave and producer Marc Platt to adapt the ninja action-packed franchise for the big screen.
Ken Kobayashi, known for his work on “Sunny” and “Move On”, will be writing the screenplay for “Shinobi.”

Yeah. I grew up with Muppet Show, Fragile Rock, and Sesame Street so it's kinda sad to see that they're now considered as a dying art.
My fave Jim Henson TV show was The Storyteller.

Sonic with Paramount, Streets of Rage with Liongate, Shinobi with Paramount... is it normal for corporations to pick multiple studios for adaptions?

Yep, that was good.
Too bad it's never been aired in my country.
I only saw it on youtube.

That put a drain on his first impression!

And they say first impression is everything.

It's the other way around actually.
The movie producers are the one who pick what games they are gonna adapt to the movie and then contact the game company who owns the franchise.
The franchise owners then who decided with yes or no.

I heard it will be getting a remake/reboot. Without John Hurt, I'm curious what direction they will go with it.

I see. Would a shared cinematic universe still be possible? I mean, I guess Spider-Man: No Way Home proves it can be possible.

Probably it will feels like the The Muppets movie after Disney takeover.
While I don't hate them, they still feels kinda different.

That's depended on Paramount and Universal, not SEGA.
Like Captain America: Civil War (which has Sony's Spidey appearance) and Spider-Man: No Way Home are more depended on Disney and Sony, not Marvel Comics.

It's expected for them to use what the modern equipment and SFX on hand, that's understandable. It feels like it's just as expensive for studios to use old fashion or vintage means of filming than it is using computer special effects.
As long as they keep that old world, slightly creepy look the original had.

Well, I hope Sega will at least consider a shared universe.

This would be fit for Sonic ... if he's ever show up in 1993 Super Mario Bros movie.

Goes to show what good make-up and puppetry can do over CGI.

Prime Video Series "Like a Dragon: Yakuza" – Review

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmNhmbOgHkc

Quote
Like a Dragon: Yakuza is a decent watch, though not without its flaws. The show takes a different direction compared to the games, which may raise some eyebrows, especially for long-time fans expecting a faithful adaptation. However, it has its strong moments, particularly in the way it explores the relationships between the characters and the unfolding story across two time periods.
While the show captures the darker, dramatic tone of the Yakuza series, I do wish it had incorporated more of the quirky, lighthearted moments that the games are known for. These unique, offbeat elements often give the games their charm and balance the intense action with humor and heart. Additionally, the fight scenes in the show could have been more ...

This most famous memeable karaoke song's unfortunately doesn't appear in the series.
I don't know why but the director didn't want put karaoke scene (or any side quest thing from the game) in the series.
That's why Ryoma Takeuchi (the actor who plays Kiryu) made this video for the fans.
