The difference has to do with the collar I think..

I never fully understood English nomenclature for clothing.

Here, the term "Wife Beater" can be used for pretty much any sleeveless shirt a man wears.  The usual metal image though, is a white undershirt.

Usually accompanied by various mustard stains and whatnot.

I bought a 13'' Macbook Pro. With it, I also got a 2nd generation Ipod touch with it thanks to Apple's "back to school" offer. I hope I don't regret this.
