That's a possibility but not just graphic that's limited, memory too.
After all they don't have ... blast processing.
If graphic's the only problem, they could make the island just like how in Toejam and Earl.

True, but Toejam & Earl: Back In The Groove doesn't have those limitations, and it is still set on... space islands?

It's actually fulfilling most TJ&E fans' wishes. Most of them wanted the gameplay back in TJ&E1 style instead of TJ&E2 and TJ&E3.

It's just in Mario Kart World, while those courses were recreated to be based on the classic courses, it makes me wonder if those courses are indeed the original courses, lore or continuity wise.
