Rise of Nightmares
« on: May 29, 2011, 03:10:45 am »
These screenshots looks old, but I've never seen someone post it here before:

It's been confirmed that its on SEGA's line-up for E3... So what type of game is this exactly? when it was announced for the Kinect, I thought it was on-rails like HotD, but what If its traditional First-Person view? then how could control the movement of the character via Kinect?

It looks really intriguing overall, I wonder who exactly is developing this?

as for the developer i don't know yet but i am sure it's one of the internal teams

BTW the cover-art is really great, i love it

Ergh, hopefully it's better than that Fighter's Uncaged game. That thing is nigh-on unplayable.

If they can pull it off though, this sounds awesomely scary.

It looks similar to Condemned in boxart but those enemies are SO House of the Dead-ish.

I actually sounds very interesting, graphics could do with a clean up though!

Woh! So we have boxart already? I'll bet it's so far along that we'll (hopefully) get a Halloween release. This and Overkill in the same month would mean SEGA would rule the Halloween season on both HD platforms.

Sounds very interesting too! I wonder how free movement could occur. Perhaps stepping forward moves forward, while pivoting your body turns? I could see that working out. And then you probably use your arms to use various weapons. Could be quite cool!

Being trapped in Viktor’s castle, solving puzzles, etc. sort of reminds me of old school titles like The 7th Guest... with bloody combat. :D

Well, it's a first day purchase for me already! I love SEGA horror games.

Nice... Now that looks like a pretty acceptable game that I would want to play on with the Kinect.

That is what I thought, but given the nature of the guess I simply didn't have the heart to remove it.

Various E3 hands-on:

Uh oh, controlling your character sounds like nightmare :( Combat sound good, use a pair of tongs to take an enemies nose off... awesome (40 weapons in total as well)! While I hope it gets a bit fixed till it's september release, I will buy this (and a Kinect for it) anyway.

Im not expecting it to perform well... that's definately the HOTD4 engine, you can see that in the new screens, it uses the same basic model for humans as well. So it's running on a 6 year old engine (Sega Golden Gun does as well), but who cares about graphics, art direction is fantastic. If I pick my games it's art direction over graphics anyday. Haven't seen an interesting SEGA art direction on consoles for a long time (Yakuza and Valkyrie Chronicles ugh...).

I love me some First Person Beat'em up as well, Maken X, Breakdown, Zeno Clash, The Super Spy, Red Steel 2 and railed cousins Supreme Warrior, Action Deka and Castlevania The Arcade as well (The Condemned games as well? never played those). Awesome stuff.

Anyway new screens & gameplay cam footage:

HA! That demo is so fucked up. I love it.

I'm sure navigation works well, just takes some getting used to. I'm glad it's not on rails. I like the "cover your ears" bit.

There are some good ideas in there  (like hold your ears) but the game itself looks fucking awful... I'm totally not excitd about this at all.
