If you have to choose between only one of these and the other one was canceled,

VR mode for The House of the Dead Remake
or
The House of the Dead II Remake

which one is it?
Because THotD games are regarded as timeless classics, I'll choose "VR mode for The House of the Dead Remake" over THotD2 remake.

This is because while the sequel is just as good as the first, the first is more memorable over it's successors so even if we'll never get a THotD2 remake, as long as effort is put into the production and development of the first game then it will still be a great addition to thhe franchise.

Take Alex Kidd for example. We got Alex Kidd in Miracle World remake, no news yet of Lost Stars or Enchanted Castle, at least far as I'm aware. And even if the sequels don't get DX'd we will always have Miracle World.

If you check The Website of the Dead forums you'll notice I actually responded more on the subject of THotD reboots and the like.

I'm a bit confused, does it take place in space on on Earth?

Lost Stars or Enchanted Castle isn't as good Miracle World so that's kinda understandable.
Just like no remake or enhanced version over Street Fighter 1 but there are many for Street Fighter II including HD Remix and Ultra version.

Both may be since the game description said "Set on a spaceship traveling between Earth and Mars"

Don't get me wrong though, I'm not saying the other THotD games aren't as good as the first. It's just... they're all arcade shooters. Not exactly known for any more elaborate gameplay or story. The first game is regarded a classic 'cus it already has it all, so why not make a VR out of it?

Oooh, so somewhere 54.6 million kilometers from Mars. Sure.

Because VR games don't sell that much.
Space Channel 5 VR Kinda Funky News Flash! is the example.
The need of VR pheripheral make them a niche market.

It is a niche market but it is still doing more better than Kinect which was a niche market. There is still an audience for VR games, the problem is most game developers do not know how to cater for it.
Only a few VR games manage to hit the mark such as BONEWORKS or Half-Life: Alyx. Games made specifically for VR but not limited to it.
Way I see it, there are older games out there that to me look they will thrive in a VR remake. Such games as Dark Messiah of Might and Magic or Arx Fatalis.

Then there are PlayStation VR games such as Resident Evil 7 and 8. Not only were these games popular VR games, but they also had non-VR releases to allow players without PSVR to play, thus covering their market well.

It's like I said on the other thread, Rise of Nightmares was suppose to be an immersive horror game made specifically for the Kinect. But it was the Kinect that was holding it back. If it was remade for the VR it may have more favourable reviews, we just wouldn't know because Sega regards RoK a failure and will not look back on it.
Or the very-very least... just re-release the game as it is, just playable with standard controller. The Kinect was the primary complaint about the game, not the game itself.
Rise of Nightmares may not get banging reviews next time round given the sour taste leftover from the Kinect, but at least more people will get to play and enjoy it!

SEGA creates CSVRS teaser website and social accounts – possible Cosmic Smash VR reveal?

Quote
Several social media accounts for a SEGA project titled CSVRS have appeared, directing users to a teaser website (csmashvrs.com) with a countdown clock ending 20 days from now.
The teaser site for CSVRS presents trippy music over a grid of circles with different images appearing within, including eyes, tunnels and a game of Pong being played.

HYENAS - Official 2023 Announce Trailer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgjzV4FchL8

Quote
Earth is ruined, the rich have colonised Mars, and the rest of humanity is living their worst life on The Taint, a giant orbiting slum. While we on The Taint are just trying to survive, Mars’ billionaires are only worried about status. Status that can only be gained by purchasing the now priceless pop-culture artefacts salvaged from the ruins of Earth, which are sold on Mars’ massive retail ‘Plundership’ spacecrafts.

We, an unlikely pack of talented robbers, hit the Mars elite where it hurts most: their stuff A.K.A. OUR stuff. They call us 'HYENAS'.

We get in, empty some clips into their security clones and other "preventative measures", steal all the best stuff then get out. Exploding a clone in zero gravity is kind of messy, but as long as we make it out with the merch it’s worth it.

So, you in?
