I would like to see some more of the world besides Guilin, but that's all I can really think that I actually want out of it right now. I'm willing to wait for gameplay and such as long as it takes.

Still standing by that whole "delayed at least twice" thing I mentioned pages ago. I will be absolutely shocked if the game comes out in 2017.

Check out this comparison video made by Esppiral showing the updated version of Shenhua's home next to the original version. You can see how faithfully they are re-creating it for Shenmue III.

Why did SEGA not want to make this game with Yu Suzuki? Do they think they are just not cool enough?

1. Suzuki wanted too much money for development. Even now after the Kickstarter he has conceded that he had to make concessions and scale back and he doesn't sound entirely happy with the budget.

2. Shenmue is a risky franchise for SEGA.

3. SEGA doesn't need Shenmue as an active IP to thrive. They have more than enough Japanese franchises doing well already, and Shenmue was never a super popular franchise in Japan. I believe Seaman outsold Shenmue over there.

That last point (though true) I do find weird considering how well Yakuza does. I'm happy with Shenmue being a smaller title if that's the way it needs/needed to be. I kind of think knowing your limits can give a great boost in breaking them. If that makes sense.

I feel like Yakuza offers a sort of story and ensemble cast that the Japanese really latched onto. I love Shenmue, but I can see why the Yakuza characters appeal to Japanese. Ryo is sort of a boring character, and he is the only character to appear in both games outside of Shenhua. Yakuza has tons of characters with wacky personalities, tons of drama and humor.

True. Suzuki's been awfully quiet so far... Maybe they'll give us something at Sony's E3 Presser.

Another month, another KS update with an interview:

Was the director for Shenmue I, directed about 70% of Shenmue II. Interesting stuff, but I wish we had something a little more meatier in the next update.

Yeah Studio Fake never amounted to anything didn't it...he seems to understand tech well, given how he programmed the Saturn ports of Virtua Fighter and so on.

Not an update, but rumours and speculation say Shenmue 1 & 2 are on the way this year.

I'm really hoping that's the case. On Neogaf they're talking about what they think needs updating and I thought likewise to many of them in that regard. If possible, I'd like to see the following updated:

Controls - left stick for movement, right for camera.
Time skip in Shenmue 1
Nothing major, but some textures slightly reworked to stop strecthing etc

This won't happen, but reworked VA would be nice. If not, at least allow options like the original have for alternative VA or none at all etc.
