5+ games a week is extremely, extremely impressive for a service the publisher never mentioned for months. Not to mention, it all works perfectly and gives you free demonstrations of everything. A lot of the games can even be beaten within the time, so no loss to the player really.
Agreed. Game Room never has had to "redeem" itself as it has already won over enough players to survive. Game Room has consistently been in the top 5 purchased Arcade titles (combining all individual game sales for the week), and in the top 10 during weeks which feature big sales on other older Arcade titles.
Krome would be stupid to release every major title up front, instead they've been releasing major titles over time. The staggered releases of Pitfall, Time Pilot, Gyruss and Atari arcade titles keeps interest spread out rather than one big bang and then crap titles for the rest of the service's lifespan. As a regular Game Roomer, I can tell you that this has worked. I'm always keeping an eye out for the next game pack, hoping (and usually getting) a cool popular or cult favorite title.
As for updates that would make Game Room into The Sims, I don't care. Game Room doesn't need a first person mode, third person mode or interior decorating options. Sure, any of those would be interesting, but they do nothing to improve the purpose of Game Room. However, recent updates that HAVE improved the purpose of Game Room have appeared over the past few weeks and have made the service even better. I laid them out earlier in this thread, but a few include dynamic leader boards that shift as you play (rack up points in-game and see your name shoot up in the ranks) and much more specific search filters.
