Game Room for the 360 - Pack 12 Released
« on: April 27, 2010, 07:45:03 am »
As Game Room is going to begin regular weekly updates tomorrow, I thought I'd bring this topic back. The less said about the last one the better.

Anyway, fresh start! Clean slate! Here are tomorrows "new" releases for 'Game Room':

Super Breakout – Atari
Pitfall! – Activision
Megamania – Activision
Night Stalker – Mattel Electronics
Rack ‘Em Up – Konami
Realsports Volleyball – Atari
Basketball – Atari

I'm particularly looking forward to 'Super Breakout', 'Night Stalker' and 'Rack 'Em' Up'. Yeah, so that last one is a pool game. But the graphics look great:

If anybody else uses Game Room, visit my arcade (I get tokens when you do) and I'll return the favor (you get tokens too). ;)

I'm still waiting on all the features that my imagination desired.

I liked Lunar Lander. Good times. I will buy it when Model 2 and 3 games come to the platform.

Well, Game Room is technically free, but I'm assuming you meant you'd buy Lunar Lander once Sega games hit the Game Room.

Though, if you didn't DL Game Room because there are no Sega games in it, why not just DL it now? No loss to you :)

I did, I spent a good hour or two with Lunar Lander. I'd buy stuff there if it's Model 2/3 games, since there is no decent emulation of those boards (to my knowledge anyway).

Ah, I getcha. Yeah, I played Lunar Lander late one night. It's a great game to play in the dark.

Yeah, I used fluffymoochicken late one night. He's a great gay to play in the dark.

But honestly, this list does not interest me much. I will play Super Breakout, but not much else. At least they will update weekly from here on out, that will keep me pumped for the service.

Never going to happen. They will only update with 2D games to keep the download sizes weak for everyone and emulation as simple as possible. It is likely we will see titles like Zaxxon though... Woo, I guess!

Gimme the late 80's Sega games and I'll be set. My Super Hang-On/Space Harrier fetish isn't going away anytime soon.

I really want to like Game Room, but there's not much that interests me there yet.  I'll believe the weekly updates when I see 'em.  I'm keeping an eye on it, though.

I tried out the game room and I didn't like it.

Basically it's a bunch of old games with fancy menus. I hate fancy menus. Just gimme a list of the games available to play and let me play them, maybe like it already happens in XBLA?

Yep, that's my big gripe against it. The arcades themselves are non-interactive... You can't walk around them or hang out with your friends in them. So what's the point? We already had the NXE if we needed menus. :|

Game Room is designed to add more 'Classic' games to the XBLA, something people have been clamoring for. At the same time, a lot of people would not be willing to even try out something like say Adventure if it was a direct port, and not only that, but it would be damn hard to make achievements for such a game.

I do not really get it. People complain that the platform is focusing too much on multimedia and then they go out and make something that will eventually play "Over 1000" older games and people complain some more.

If you want to hang out with your friends, play games and decorate your own house go play Animal Crossing or something, even then you would not be really 'Hanging out' with your friends as it is just a digital representation of themselves to begin with, chatting over mics is seemingly more engaging. I can see why you would want them to add these kind of features, but I do not see how it would be an overall selling point for you, considering what they want and have set up with the platform.

I agree with Sega Uranus.  I think when it's an arcade machine you can line up to another arcade machine in a little virtual room, it adds a little value and makes it more of a collection, rather than just an old game that you don't want to pay 5$ for in XBLA.  The interface will probably gradually improve.

That's a load of bull.

I'd much rather pay the 5 bucks and get 4/5 games without all the other crap.
and 1000 classic games for 5 bucks each? ouch.

Game Room is pretty much a waste, just fluff for casuals and basically the same delivering method they have been using for in 2006 (well all that matters).
