Mickey doesn't get popular by being nice, lol.
Before ... whenever everybody make a meme or joke about Disney they always use Mickey Mouse.
But later... when Mickey isn't exclusive to Disney anymore, who'll be the new face of Disney?
I imagine Disney will pay the right politics to have their mouse remain in their copyright ownership awhile longer. Maybe some sort of law allowing copyrighted products to be renewed.
But from what I understand about the Winnie the Pooh case, people are allowed to use Winnie the Pooh in any creative and marketing way as long as it's not directly based on Disney's version of Winnie the Pooh.
So I imagine parodies or loose adaptions of Mickey Mouse is alright, even those parodies using the Mickey Mouse name. Just can't look exactly like Disney's Mickey Mouse or so.
