New Zelda footage... Looks like Zelda.
« on: December 06, 2014, 07:28:51 am »
Footage is below... You know, I'm just going to say this. If it was SEGA demoing this, I would be totally disappointed.

Take out the Link character model and I see absolutely nothing exceptional or exciting going on here. Everything they showed off as if it's something exciting is old hat... Open world, waypoint markers, maps? What is this 1998? Even the horse controls were done in Shadow of the Colossus a good decade ago!

All round it look's pretty generic. Prove me wrong?

(Oh and I don't know if it's just the translators but man these guys are so corny and lame...)

If it was Sega demoing this, it would be a mobile phone game exclusive to Japan.

What were you expecting though? It's Zelda, it's a formula they re-use all the time. It's been using the same thing for a long while. I'm not even a fan of Zelda, only ever played Twilight Princess, but I know what to expect. Frankly I think it's better than trying to 'innovative' and making horrid games like Sonic Team does.

In terms of how impressive the open world looks. JC2 had some incredible sights, this demo didn't do much for me. Then again, I was never a big Zelda fan.

Looks like it could be fun. Depends though. I've always been a fan of the Zelda formula. It is indeed nothing ground breaking at all. I feel like I'm looking at Skyrim almost.

But really. I can't think of any Nintendo games that are ground breaking. Nintendo have mastered the art form of refining existing formulas and getting people to buy the same game over and over again. Just look at Pokemon.

How bad it may sound, I wish SEGA could/would have done that with a couple of franchises.

I wasn't blown away by the new video, but I am reassured that these crazy old-timers still know what they're doing. That looks like a game I know I will play. Most games that already featured the game systems that they touted as "new" are not the kind of games I absolutely want to play.

It's at least good to know that the E3 trailer was playable footage.

It looks like Zelda. Doesn't look mind-blowing, but I can see how it may be entertaining. So long as it's not Zelda Sunshine, I'm sure it will be grand.

I think everyone wishes this to be honest. New stuff is great, but their sequels often miss the point entirely, unlike Nintendo.

I don't think enough was shown to really have a good impression of the game. They showed a bit of how big the open world is, Link on Epona running around the open world and some on-horse combat. We still haven't actually seen yet what you can do in the game outside of shooting arrows at enemies.

But it looks empty and boring... It did literally nothing new or exciting. Pretend for a moment that isn't a model of Link and were looking at a brand new IP. Would a single person look at this empty, boring demo and think CANT WAIT TO PLAY THAT!

I'm not particularly interested in playing it as a Zelda game, so, no I probably wouldn't be.

I'll probably give it a shot when it comes out if it looks nice. I've only ever played one Zelda game in my life anyway.

Knowing zelda games, it's gonna have amazing experiences within those world. Whether it's from exploration and finding great locales or just the amazingly crafted environments within the used artstyle with the right moods set by the music. Let's not forget about all the dungeons. The world seems to be huge so possibly there's gonna be more exploration than ever.

There's a lot more to it when you look into it a bit more. I'm actually quite sure they're aware that the game is far from finished looking if inly for them viewing it off screen. But also quite sure they're consiously holding things back like the way npc's or the usual zelda races are going to look.
