OK, so, my theory is Starfall Islands are located on an alternate Earth to Sonic. That explains why the springs look different.

I already got stuck in with the games Story Mode. It's honestly giving me the Mandela Effect because while I can tell the cosmetic changes in some parts of the remastered stages I'm wondering if I'm remembering parts of it correctly or not, like was there that many badniks in certain areas or has this part always been like that etc.

The number of badniks remain same. It feels there are more of them due to the screen is bigger than we're usually playing.
