Sonic Team boss explains why a Sonic Adventure remake / remaster isn’t happening
https://nintendoeverything.com/sonic-adventure-remake-remaster-takashi-iizuka/
I am grateful for the current content Sega has provided for us, but at this point, I've given up hope Sega, or at least Sonic Team will ever call back to the Dreamcast-era of Sonic's career.
They can do Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic... but not Dreamcast Sonic.
Actually I agree with him.
He said "I think it would be about as much time and energy as it would to make a new title. Part of me is thinking maybe I should just make a brand new title."
I'd rather they focus their resources to make new game (like Sonic Adventure 3 may be) instead and let the remake and the remastered thing to third parties.
Remember that Sonic Mania, Sonic Origins, and Sonic Superstars were developed by third parties, Sonic Team then was polishing and publishing it.
SEGA president says Nintendo has been playing an amazing role with games and hardware
https://www.thegamebusiness.com/p/reviving-sega-will-be-the-greatest
Shuji Utsumi, CEO of SEGA America and SEGA Europe, and the COO and President of SEGA Corporation, wants to "revive Sega" and pwehaps the Power Surge is indication of that.
But complimenting Nintendo over their technology, especially given the hot water Nintendo is in, isn't really all that favourable.
I think it's understandable since he has a big attachment to game console busines
(he was a member of the PlayStation & Dreamcast launch team afterall and both Nintendo Wii and Switch 1 has better launch than those two).
He's just being modest and humble.
This isn't 90s. SEGA doesn't have a war with Nintendo like back then.
