Merchs and shirts sold more than gaming acessories.

Only because they didn't sold gaming acessories.

I don't think Sonic Team pressured them to modernize it.
Gamefams listened to fans feedback and in this case modern fans are much louder than Dreamcast fans.

I find that hard to believe, I mean I don't think it was a matter of Dreamcast-era fans vs Modern-era fans. Because on the Sonic wiki I go to, Sonic Speed Sim players were dropping like flies in a zapper after the release because despite the expansions, the gameplay was disappointing for them.

The games are too vary, different games have different gameplay.
I don't really like the RPG ones, but I do enjoy the hack and slash ones.

The anime only has 12 episodes (+ 1 extra) so it only includes of the main characters,
Dreamcast-inspired character, Uzume, wasn't in the anime.
Still it gave us the core of the story.

And Mega Drive-inspired character (Plutia) was really funny here.
She's usually calm and peaceful (like Japanese Mega Drive advertising) ...
