Sonic's 35th Anniversary is going to be bringing some lovely merchandise treats for blue blur superfans everywhere, as newly-spotted listings for Wave 24 of Jakks Pacific's action figures on EBGames' website reveal a Tikal 4" model, alongside a 2.5" Werehog mini-toy.
The Wave 24 toys, initially spotted by The Sonic Scoop on social media, feature a set of four characters in each figure size and sport the emerald-green 'Sonic 35th' anniversary branding. Damn. Scandal in a video game world, but not from the staffs from the game company itself.
I just hope EmuEmi hasn't wrecked whatever good terms Drummond had with Sega.

I often wish Sonic Team would make a "Dreamcast Sonic" and have Ryan as his exclusive voice actor.

SEGA didn't remove Teruyuki Kagawa from his role as Goh Hamazaki on Yakuza Kiwami 3 despite his scandal in the past
(he has admitted to sexually assaulting a woman in 2019) and protests from fans

so may be Ryan is safe too for the role of ...well, if there's ever Dreamcast Sonic in the plan which I somehow doubt it.

Yeah, I doubt we'll ever get a Dreamcast Sonic.

SXSG would've been the ideal opportunity to introduce Dreamcast Sonic.

Yeah, especially SXSG had a huge budget after the success of Sonic Frontiers.
Unlike both Sonic Forces and sonic Frontiers which were made in a tight budget, SXSG should go out.

Yeah, especially SXSG had a huge budget after the success of Sonic Frontiers.
Unlike both Sonic Forces and sonic Frontiers which were made in a tight budget, SXSG should go out.
Not only that, but what bothers me to this day was that owners of Sonic Generations Collection were not given a discount, or the choice to buy Shadow Generations separately.

While Shadow Generations was its own game, it's around ¾ the content of Sonic Generations, but I still had to pay full price for both games, despite already owning the original.
And for what? Because ian Flynn put his pen to the script? The few chao to collect? If you're going to have chao, might as well have Dreamcast Sonic!

My ideas for Sonic Generations
If the new Sonic Generations would've introduced Dreamcast Sonic and have third acts for each stage, then I would say it is more worth buying Sonic Generations all over again for it. (Even if these new acts just recycle content from the other two acts, it still be something. Sonic Adventure 2 had a Green Hill stage that they could've based Dreamcast Sonic's Green Hill act after.)

And if the concern is Dreamcast Sonic looking too similar to Modern Sonic that it be confusing, well, I would propose these changes to Dreamcast Sonic:
  • He would be a darker blue than both Sonics.
  • Middle-size between Classic and Modern Sonics.
  • Have a more rounded body, but lankier limbs. (Perhaps thinner upper-arms and thighs)
  • His quills would be slightly jagged, emphasizing the poly-limit of the Dreamcast console.
  • While his eyes would look like Modern Sonic, still has that "shine" that Yuji Uekawa applied to Sonic's eyes in Sonic Adventure art.
  • He would exclusively wear the Grind Shoes. While he only wore them in the one game, they were still iconic for the time.
  • He would be exclusively voiced by Ryan Drummond. Perhaps contract for exclusivity for the role.
The particular last two choices would make Dreamcast Sonic stand out more to Modern Sonic.

My ideas for Shadow Generations
It would've also made sense if Shadow Generations had "Dreamcast Shadow" as a partner of sorts to Shadow. I imagine the glint of light at the "death" of Shadow in Sonic Adventure 2 was actually him falling into White Space. There he meeds his future self. I can imagine Dreamcast Shadow being somewhat like Shadow's inner-child. Shadow has moved on from his trauma, while Dreamcast Shadow is happy to see Maria again. Maybe Shadow grows a bit jealous how Maria seems more friendly to Dreamcast Shadow than he is to him. Things like that.

Meanwhile, Act 2 of Shadow Generations stages could be for Dreamcast Shadow that straight-up recycles Dreamcast Sonic's gameplay.
I mean, the Act 2s were already side-scrolling stages anyway as if made specifically for Classic Sonic, what was the point of that?

If we ever get Adventure game remakes
As of now, I don't think Sonic Team are interested in remaking the Adventure games or catering for Dreamcast-era fans. To be fair, I wouldn't want a new Sonic Adventure game where Sonic Frontiers gameplay is mandatory for it when I'd rather have the gameplay provided in the original Dreamcast games. That said, if we had "Dreamcast Sonic" and "Dreamcast Shadow", I would feel more confident in Adventure remnakes if they were the starring characters for the games, over Modern Sonic and mandates expected for him. Sonic Team could try and get as much of the Dreamcast-era voice actors for the roles as Dreamcast-versions of characters as possible (perhaps Sonic X voice actors taking roles for characters that cannot reprise roles)

But as much as I would like a remaster of Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, or a brand-new Sonic Adventure 3 game, I don't feel confidence in current Sonic Team doing so. Especially given they'd rather make Classic Sonic games over anything for Dreamcast-era fanbase.

It has nothing to do with Ian Flynn or new contents.
SEGA also did it with it Royal Persion of Persona 5, Sonic Origins, Reload version of Persona 3, and Director's Cut version of Yakuza 0.
It's because their engine was different with their original game so they've made it from the scratch again.
Not the reason that could be accepted by fans, but they did it anyway.

Ah yes, Grind Shoes was so iconic.
But even if this's happened, since their plan to use Jaleel White was ejected by higher-ups, I don't think they're gonna do it with Ryan Drummond either.
Still annoyed seeing Classic Sonic went mute all the time while classic Tails' so chatty.

I don't think they're gonna remaking Sonic games at least until 35th Anniversary.
While Sonic Frontiers was a success in Japan, their remake games (Sonic Colours Ultimate, Sonic Origins, and Sonic x Shadow Generations) weren't.
That's why probably Sonic Team's gonna focus in making new Sonic games instead of remaking again, unless big boss SEGA asked them to release Sonic game at least one game every year.

Even if it's because of incompatible engines, I still owned the same game.
They could at least made it a DLC option to "update" Sonic Generations Collection for a small fee or something.

Honestly, I think not having Jaleel White for Classic Sonic was a good call. Jaleel white was a kid at the time of DiC-era Sonic cartoons. I think he was still doing Steve Urkel at the time.

Then BlueCoreStudios made that fanfilm where they got Jaleel White to voice for Sonic and... well, to put politely, he sounded cringe. Puberty has done away with the vocal range he had for Sonic at the time. The only way I can accept Jaleel White reprising his role for Sonic is if he is willing for his recorded dialogue to be digitally pitched to sound younger.

So, having Classic Sonic mute was a good call over him sounding like how he was in the fanfilm which sounded nothing like how he was in DiC Sonic cartoons.
I don't think they're gonna remaking Sonic games at least until 35th Anniversary.

I like to believe Sonic Generations refined the formula from Sonic Unleashed. So a new open-zone Sonic game may refine the formula from Sonic Frontiers.

Still, I prefer Sonic Adventure gameplay over Sonic Frontiers. It felt more flexible, more free and exploitive in a good way.
With Sonic Adventure gameplay, I felt Sonic Team provided the bare essentials and encouraged us to be experimental with it. Push the boundaries, see where we can reach etc.
With Sonic Frontiers gameplay, it just felt rigid at times. We had little control when we were in the air and despite natural rugged terrain, some parts felt closed off entirely.
