Which Sega developed Sonic Chronicles, Japan or America?

America I guess, since it's released for western first in 2008.
Japanese version was released in 2009.

I guess so. I mean, SquareEnix likely had change of people since their SquareSoft days, but they still kept tried and true as game developers.

Many FF fans don't think so, especially when they changed Final Fantasy Remake gameplay from turn based RPG into action RPG.
As for me the change is good since it offers a fast-paced gameplay compared to the original but many fans said it has lost its original spirit.

Sega were a video game corporation, then went backrupt, then were brought out and made into a lesser subsidiary. I know Takashi Iizuka is still with Sega, but how much of Sega is still Sega?

It's not really a lesser subsidiary in a sense.
The company is called SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS, not just SAMMY.
They're fusing, not one leads on another.

Nintendo demanded SEGA to put Mario’s foot in front of Sonic’s for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games

Quote
Hasegawa said in an interview with Arcade Attack Retro Gaming Network:
“There was artwork of Mario and Sonic and other characters standing on the field, and those artworks were used for the package, instruction manual, cover, the cartridge label, and things like that.
There was one small error and Sonic’s foot was in front of Mario’s foot, and Nintendo demanded us to change the priority. I still remember that.
We were like “Oh my God, we have  ...”

Japanese version was released in 2009.
I see, so it was likely Sega of American decision to choose BioWare, not Sega of Japan, who would've probably chose Atlus or another native studio, if they would've even had a Sonic RPG to begin with.

Well, I mean, SquareEnix kept to it's guns. Yeah they changed things up over time and modernized, but they are still good with Final Fantasy. Sure some Final Fantasy games were bad, but they didn't end because of them.
It's not really a lesser subsidiary in a sense.

I still can't help but feel Sammy just gobbled up sega, spat out the remnants and made a frankenstein subsidiary out of them.

Back then SEGA of America's love to experiment with Sonic.
Sonic Boom's franchise are the greatest example.

Yeah, other than Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (which still has strong sales but did not meet Square Enix's internal profit targets), most of them are profitable.

I still can't help but feel Sammy just gobbled up sega, spat out the remnants and made a frankenstein subsidiary out of them.

Can't help if you're feeling that way but SEGA's profit is a lot higher after their merger with Sammy.
