Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Wraps Filming with Metal Sonic Reveal

Principal photography for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has wrapped after starting in early March 2026 at UK studios like Shinfield, with Paramount eyeing a March 19, 2027 release.
Fowler shared the first on-set photo of the spot-on Metal Sonic, a classic Sega villain teased in Sonic 3's post-credits, and called it the best Sonic movie yet.
Jim Carrey returns as Dr. Robotnik, Ben Schwartz voices Sonic, and the cast includes Idris Elba, Keanu Reeves' Shadow, and newcomers like Ben Kingsley—setting up high-stakes robotic chases.

To be fair... the Mystic Ruins is likely surrounded by thick jungle and mountain range.

And by jungle, I don't mean the "Jungle Area", but if you go to the furthest to the cliff-edge of the jungle area (where, Dr. Eggman's base is), you'll see that the "skydome" consist of even more vast jungle surrounding the mystic Ruins.

Mystic Ruins stations consist of a railtrack heading into a tunnel to the side of a cliff-face. It could be possible the railway line between Station Square to Mystic Ruins goes through thick jungle and tunnels through cliffs and mountains that even Sonic would struggle to get their by foot.

SEGA dropped the permanent price of its 2023 2D platformer Sonic Superstars to $39.99 from $59.99 on Steam, with the Digital Deluxe Edition at $49.99 including LEGO Sonic content.
