Not always. Getting focus and deep engagement to limited customers (who really spent their money on the brand of course) is also a good strategy for controlled cost and growth cap. Unfamiliarity with broader needs can dilute brand focus or strain operations.

Well, it is really interesting if they're all turning into monsters, not just Sonic.
Well, not turning into monsters, just taking up roles of characters from various horror stories. Kind of like how Sonic's friends look like they were just cosplaying characters in other storybook games, but were entirely committed to the role. Perhaps Dracula (Shadow), Carmilla (Rouge) and Blaze (Mummy) have powers unique to their roles, but still look like Sonic's friends.
All Sonic Storybook games have a "semi-auto rail" gameplay for Sonic. Given the Classic Monster theme of
SONIC 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝕭𝖑𝖔𝖔𝖉 𝕸𝖔𝖔𝖓 it just makes sense to shoehorn Sonic's werehog form in this game. Just despite having this idea for years, I never settled what kind of gameplay would be best for Werehog stages that incorporate the flow of Sonic's standard stages.
Maybe something like Dynamite Deka gameplay where it's mostly beat 'em up with micro-cutscenes between areas?
