Yeah, Zillion debuted in April 1987 several months after Light Phaser was released, so more likely that the Zillion design was borrowed from Sega.
Every console had their gun peripheral back then (Nintendo's NES with Zapper and Atari's 7800 with XG-1).

SEGA announced a partnership with JAKKS Pacific, Inc. for the animated Sonic Prime Netflix series, continuing a long history of collaboration between the two companies.

I find Jakks playsets rather underwhelming in comparison to say a '80s Castle Greyskull playset.

The Jakks Green Hill playset I've seen consist of a small cliff-like platform and a loop. Is that it? Why not include a small checkered hill with some cliff-like platforms?

Times like this which makes me contemplate buying a 3D printer.

the articulation were always built good,
not breaking easily.
