So they DID had 4:3 resolution! Just as I predicted, they saved it for the compilation video when they could've released each episode full screen to begin with.

because sure, i love watching videos as if I'm looking through a vertical letterbox.

I guess they targeted mobile game fans first who love to use smartphones (and watch Youtube shorts, facebook reels, and Tiktok).
May be because Sonic Rumble is released on mobile (and PC too but that's still later).
