Yes, that was making Sonic fans mad this year.
To think than Knuckles TV series could be nominated last year while Sonic 3's being skipped this year.
The Last of Us season 2 wouldn't even be able to beat Sonic 3 so that's why I guess.

I guess in a way, the TGA is rigged if they can play favourites while still dragging Sega in the mud.

What about Sonic Sim?
It has Christmas event and it's made for PC in mind first then mobile later (the opposite of Sonic Rumble).

When it was released for PC, it was a decent game. Had a great Halloween event, but too little, too late for it's Christmas event. The year after, it had that Mega Update and was now more of a mobile game.

Did they at least bring back Snow Valley, or a new winter-themed area to host the Christmas event?

I remember the year before, before the "Mega Update", it was December and instead of a Christmas event, Sonic Speed Sim had Sonic Prime premier and Roblox Tower for events. They eventually had a Christmas-theme update but it was a few days after Christmas.
Throughout the time, they did NOTHING with Snow Valley, the only winter stage they had!

I mean, I get it. Sega likely pressed GameFam to prioritize the promotion of Sonic Prime over Christmas and Gamefam likely thought the Roblox tower thing was more of interest.

But they could've at least ran two events at the same time! Sonic Prime and Tower event in Green Hill world and Christmas event in Snow Valley! Let players have both, instead of awkwardly one or the other in Green Hill.

I imagine this year, the Christmas event was held in Green Hill Zone world instead of Cool Edge world. Because when I think Christmas, I think tropical hills and palmtrees.

No, The Game Awards (TGA) does not have a formal submission process where developers "request" their games to be nominated.
The game's eligibility is determined by its release date instead regardless of producers consent.
That's why TLOU fan who said that Sonic 3 movie wasn't nominated because Paramount/SEGA forgot to submit them got their post burned since all the nominees were picked by TGA team themselves.

I'll check it when I feel like it. I don't want to get "back into" Sonic Speed Sim. The one and only thing I like about the game is the extended worlds and that's it. I prefer the Legacy gameplay over what we have now.
