I think it's not wasteful if you played it for many days and enjoyed it.
It'd only be wasteful if you buy it and you don't play it at all or just play it for a few hours.
If I were to buy an XBox controller and... I dunno, a PS2VR headset (which can be used on PC without a PSN account needed), it would get me back into gaming, then I can buy a Steam Controller and Steam Frame. But then it would indeed be wasteful given the XBox Controller and PS2VR headset would just be put away indefinitely, y'know?

So I think it's better to be patient and wait for the things I want, it feels less wasteful that way.
You’re back in the early 2000s.

I should play that again sometime... Especially reinstall the mods I had for it.

But, again, I'll need a proper controller for it. Though the Saturn Pro Controller may do fine.

It gives me some SatAM-vibes. Pumpkin Hill with abandoned settlement looks amazing! It's a pity that, while the Dreamcast was cutting-edge at the time, there was only so much they can do with it.

All the more reason why I wished SXSG introduced a "Dreamcast Sonic", we could've had remakes of the Adventure games.

And it saves your wallet too.

By the time the new proper controller came, a new mainline Sonic game has probably been released already.

Since Sonic Adventure 2 was aimed for an "American atmosphere", I guess it's no wonder if it has SatAM-vibes at some point.

True. I mean, not to brag given I got some cash to burn, but I don't want to buy frivolously.

Not counting a re-release of Sonic Frontiers?

True. But given how popular Pumpkin Hill was, would be cool if it was expanded upon.

That's how it should be.

The re-release's just for Nintendo Switch 2 (Swicth 1 version was downgraded a lot graphically to maintain the solid gameplay performance), which I doubt that you're planning to buy the console.

Yeah, popular indeed, Pumpkin Hill does keep coming in the racing series.

i thought there will be a new deluxe edition or something.

I like to believe Pumpkin Hill and maybe Lost Pyramid was once home to a clan of Echidna who still haunt the region as Boo's.

Though TailsTube Halloween special also tells an interest story.

Okay, if Boos (King Boom Boo included) in Pumpkin Hill were ghosts of Echidnas, then what about Boos in Mad Space?

First 4 Figures' SONIC ADVENTURE 2 Statue Pre-Orders open on April 23, 2026
Sonic leans forward with adventurous energy atop a counter-clockwise blue vortex, while Shadow maintains a low, intense stance on a clockwise red vortex.  Inspired by the Sonic Adventure 2 cover, both characters are captured mid-motion with one hand reaching ahead and the other pulled back, perfectly reflecting the rivalry and high-speed tension that define their presence.

■ WOLFGANG KRAUSER (Voice Actors: Patrick Seitz)
Ruled the sinister underbelly of society as the Emperor of Darkness, until he fell in battle to the resilient fang of the Hungry Wolf—or so the rumors, spread by his own offspring, would have the public believe. The stage is set—not a requiem for the fallen, but an overture to revenge..

Oh, okay, I most likely remember it wrong.
But I do believe that Pachacama's echidnas were not the only echidnas. Sandopolis likely had its own echidna tribe styled after Egyptians. I imagine the extent of Sandopolis Tribe territory includes Sandopolis Zone, Regal Ruin, Wild Canyon/Dry Lagoon, Hidden Base/Sand Ocean and Dr. Eggman's pyramid base.

In real life Echidnas only live in Australia and New Guinea though so the theme of the echidna clan having limited territory's kinda fit.
Not to mention that they're also threatened species.
While the short-beaked echidna is still common, all long-beaked species are threatened by habitat loss, cars, and hunting.
