Attention all units: A suspect has found the long-unknown cheat codes that unlock the extras in "Aqua GT"!

Quote
Bo: "

* Dreamcast version: Hold Up+Left+A+Y at the title screen.
* PlayStation version: Enter Left (x2), Right (x2), Left, Right, Left, Right.

Block all major roads and capture the suspect.

I wrote up some notes on how these codes work - see my site for details: https://bbayles.com/32bits "

I've watched it but things have changed since then.
Of course Sammy and SEGA's relationship weren't all sunshine and rainbow, but in the end SEGA could do most of anything they want in creative term and that's a win in my eyes.
I guess so, but not everything.

The people who worked with Sega during the '90s are no longer there. Whenever current Sega still has the "spirit" it claims to always had is somewhat debatable.

Meanwhile, Nintendo acknowledge that they have other popular classic IPs other than Super Mario and, while not often, still keeps them afloat with fresh content every now and again.
StarFox may not have new games often, but it leaves the Panzer Dragoon series in the dust.
Kirby has had many games and is a thriving franchise, while Ristar was a one-hit-wonder.

The Sega Renaissance, for example, where Sega are both aware of the popularity of their classic IPs but so insecure over them that they leave it to third-party developers and producers to make their games at pole-length. I dunno if Sega got a cut of royalties, but I don't recall their blue SEGA logo on these games.
But still, it's still the first time in ages where Sega's older IPs finally get some fresh blood.

Then there is the "Power Surge" which was announced, a big comeback for Sega's IPs having brand-new games for fans to look forward to. The video was released in 2023 and Shinobi: Art of Vengeance was the only came that we have so far. It's less of a Power Surge and more of a mild buzz really. We've yet to get fresh news on Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Streets of Rage or Golden Axe.

Nintendo is really a rare example.
If you see another game company, be it Capcom, Sony, Microsoft, EA, or KoeiTecmo,
most people who worked with them during the '90s are also no longer there.
That doesn't make them a bad company.
Changes happened, it's just a part of life.

I know (well, EA is debatable), but given Sega, Nintendo and even Sony were regarded the titans at the time, even though Sega has dropped down to just making video games over console and hardware business, Sega is still compared to Nintendo. And to me, Nintendo put more care in their classic IPs than Sega has for theirs. Granted Kirby, Zelda or Pokémon don't get a brand-new game every year or two, but they're practically the pillars of Nintendo along with Super Mario (and Donkey Kong, if you count him independent of Super Mario)

I know Sega is no longer the titans they once were in the '90s. I imagine kids these days would find it hard to believe Sega was on Nintendo's level at one point in history. But I wish they would do more with their classics, than just pawning them off to Lizardcube... Or the very least pawn them off to Lizardcube and other third-party studios, but Sega should publish and support them.

That's what happened right now.
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance was developed by Lizardcube with SEGA's supervision.
SEGA pawn them off to Lizardcube and SEGA is the one who published them.

I guess unlike back then, they need proofs first before trusting the development to third parties and Lizarcube delivered it twice with SOR4 and Wonder Boy Dragon's Trap.

Dead or Alive creator Tomonobu Itagaki has passed away at 58

Quote
"The light of my life is about to run out," Itagaki wrote in his final post (translated from Japanese via Google Translate). He called his life a "series of battles" that he kept winning, and that despite the trials he stayed by his beliefs and has "no regrets." He expressed remorse for not being able to share his "new work" with fans.
He concluded his last message with a phrase in English: "so it goes."
Itagaki's peers from across the video game industry have shared messages mourning his loss. Tekken series director and producer Katsuhiro Harada called his passing "too soon" in ...

I simply want to play Shadow's game and Skies of Arcadia.
But when I started to download Shadow's .rtz from a "dubious" website, it claimed it would take half to three hours to download.
I was worried I missed the post this morning and that I wouldn't get my adapter. Luckily, the postman rang at midday and when I got my package, the .rtz finished downloading.

But, as I tried to run Shadow's game on Dolphin emulator, I kept getting error messages saying I was missing some coded files, or it can't run for this or that and it was causing my computer to crash! Luckily, I don't think I got any worms or viruses, but it's still won't play.

What pisses me off is, I'd rather just buy the game on Steam and be done with it. But because Sega has not re-released Shadow's game (despite last year being dedicated entirely to him to promote his appearance in Sonic's third movie and Shadow Generations), i have no choice but to turn to piracy just to play these inaccessible games.

This is why internet piracy is becoming more of a morally acceptable practice for games exclusive to older consoles that won't get PC releases. But I'd rather just give money = get game, than faff about with emulators and torrents that risk the well-being of my computer.

Damn, that's really unfortunate.
Unfortunately some games are not aging well which if it's re-released just as what it is, it would met with harsh reviews on internet.
And it's not about just money. SEGA really cares about critique scores now so I doubt the higher ups would let them be re-released, especially since Shadow got 45 on Metacritics.
It'll ruin their decade of Sonic's good scores.

Yeah, but not as strict since they aren't the publisher.

Couldn't Sega release, say, Sonic '06 or Shadow's game with minimal marketing? As in, sure, warts and all, the games will be just as badly recieved as they were back then, but if priced for around a tenner and just put their for the sake of accessibility then Sega would get at least something from it. All the while the modding community will do the rest fixing the games.
Yeah, but not as strict since they aren't the publisher.
But it was still their game series. I mean, don't get me wrong a DX or a late sequel is better than nothing, but you'd think Sega would be more involved.

Nothing came out from SEGA especially if it's related to Sonic would be 'small'.
Websites would blow it out of poroportions and calling SEGA lazy and other mean names.
Even SEGA Shiro commercials who's only targeted to Japan somehow being used to make clickbait articles in many websites as if SEGA would reveal new consoles for the rest of the world.

But it was still their game series. I mean, don't get me wrong a DX or a late sequel is better than nothing, but you'd think Sega would be more involved.

They gave them access to Majima, Death Adder, and Eggman so I'll say SEGA is pretty much involved.
