SEGA as console game makers yeah.
He's the father of SMS, Mega Drive, Saturn, and Dreamcast.
SEGA as arcade game makers' body and blood was Yu Suzuki though.
He still brought Sega to the household though.
Golden Axe 64 was really unexpected hit.
Even Nintendo themselves was surprised since the game's being developed only by a small team with low expectations.
But its iconic 4-player split-screen multiplayer, fun strategic gameplay, and its accessible controls made it's sold over 8 million copies.
(For comparation how much 8 million copies were, DC Sonic Adventure's sold 2.5 million while Sonic Racing CrossWorlds' sold 1 million).
The fact the first-person view and gun aiming are separate functions, as well as the use of gadgets also makes the game more ideal for the VR treatment.
Well, it's unfair to compare any SEGA game to the giant SEGA franchise that is Sonic.
Sonic fanbase is just really that huge, so even the bad game like Sonic '06 still got some love.
But that's my point, it all comes down to the fanbase of a game.
What Sonic '06 and Rise of Nightmare have in common is that they are both Sega games for the XBox 360 that turned out bad.
But, Sonic '06 is still a Sonic game, with a thriving fandom even after the reputation of Sonic '06. So when it comes to those who saw potential in Sonic '06, it meant it was worthwhile for someone with the right skills to remake it into Project '06.
Rise of Nightmare just doesn't have the same fandom as Sonic. I wouldn't be surprised if it's in the dozens, if less. Thus, if anyone does see the potential in it just as I do, they will question if it's worth to bother at all.
It's just the way it is.
I believe a "proof of concept", such as turning the dungeon prologue into a VR demo at least, would help RoN case, but I don't know how to rip models and content from an XBox 360 game let alone how to use Unity or Blender well enough to put it to make a VR game from scratch.
I'm still waiting for the Steam Frame to come out, so I can't really "try" to make VR games at the moment.
