Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice
« on: May 06, 2016, 08:11:18 pm »
Does anyone care that SEGA is making yet another sequel to Sonic Boom? If they were even halfway focused on games that make money, they could probably avoid the risk of being bought by EA games.

No, no one seems to care about the new Sonic Boom game.

The guys at SEGA doesn't seem to care either.

I beg to differ, they delayed the game so as not to rush it and to take time to improve it. With Shattered Crystal and Rise of Lyric they rushed it and released a subpar game and an awful game. Now they seem to give a shit.

I meant in the sense they're being abnormally quiet about the game. It's almost been a year since the announcement and we're still clinging onto the same footage and screenshots, with only vague hints like the more recent "half-pipe special stage" mention in the description from a shopping website.

Unless they're heavily revamping the game and the information we know about anyway is worthless (which could be a bad thing in itself, see Sonic Xtreme), it's like they do not want us to know about the game's existence or doesn't care.

Sanzaru's a good developer, they did a great job with Sly 4. I thought  Shattered Crystal was terrible but it was pretty clear that it was also rushed together and made with not enough time spent at the design table, so I could see Sanzaru doing better with this second shot.

Also, no new trailers and gameplay demos could mean that Sanzaru is spending more time actually developing the game. Stuff like that can eat into development time as well.

Hasn't Sanzura stopped working on the game? I'm sure I read somewhere that after they had "finished" SEGA took it in-house to work on it more.

No I think they are still working on it. I don't particularly care about it... But I understand that it's a game to go with a cartoon and as I actually quite liked the cartoon I can let it slide... If SEGA didn't currently have an excellent line up of games I would be far more upset. But I can overlook one bad Sonic game in an otherwise brilliant line up...

Parents care.
At least as for me, I'll buy it for my 4 year old son since he loved the TV show (well, me too) and he still prefer Shattered Crystal than 3DS version of Lost World (the game is too hard for him).

This is like going for some cheap soda knock-off that is just kind of tasteless after drinking spoiled milk.

I think SEGA sometimes suffers the same problem that Nintendo does. They mostly make children's games thinking that the majority of people who play video games are children. That's a problem because adults would much rather play something that isn't cheesy. I miss the days when Sonic games were actually good and when SEGA had many more franchises to offer. At least SEGA can't make the same mistakes they did with the one about the werewolf.

Weird comment. The majority of SEGA games are not for children... Their current line up is very teen/adult.
