Sega really should do more wit htheir Classic-era IPs. We need Shinobi.

They already did it 2 years ago in SEGA Ages,
and I kind of love it back then.
But the sale wasn't that good,
it was still far below SEGA Ages: Puyo Puyo, Outrun, and Virtua Racing.

I heard Dotemu (Streets of Rage 4) has pitched Shinobi sequel,
but SEGA hasn't agree yet.
They even failed to put Joe in Streets of Rage 4.

Quote
Although they pursued use of Joe Musashi from Shinobi,
the licensing, different departments, and various permissions necessary to use a character like Joe Musashi made including him as a bonus playable character impossible.

I just wish the Sega Ages games were more available these days. Never got to play those remakes.

As for Sega's reluctance for a Shinobi remake, I dunno. Maybe licencing problems?

That's what Dotemu said, but we never heard SEGA's side of story.

Still nice to see Joe made it to SOR4 as cameo.

Yeah that's cool. Hope Sega AGES become more accessable in the near future.

That's depended on M2 too.
Seems like SEGA's not willing to do SEGA AGES / 3D Classic series without them and right now M2's still busy with their shmup reproduction and Shot Trigger series, at least until next two years.

There's a fan translation patch for PS2 remake version to play on emulator, but I still prefer Switch version since it got auto map function.

I wish they were remade into 3D like the NDS classic-era Final Fantasy games were.

That dungeon with hundred stairs in Phantasy Star II would be hell in 3D.

Then make a cutscene out of it. Or make it skippable. I haven't played the original games. (We should probably move this discussion to the Phantasy Star thread if I'm derailing.)

Nah, while it was hard, it's fun to explore.
I'll hate it if it's gone.
It's kinda easier to track that hundred stairs because it's 2D.
Okay, definitely I'm lying about easy part, but it's doable because it's 2D.

Then play it. At least Phantasy Star IV on Steam. It's the one that's easiest and also hasn't aged badly.

Shouldn't I start from the beginning or would I loose context?

You can start from any. The story could be enjoyed without knowing the prequels.

I hope so. I'm used to the Final Fantasy games. I hope they won't be that different.
