SEGA Saturn Fighter "Ninku" Gets a Fan Translation!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3vI4Cr9jXg

Quote
Exxistance does it again and releases a fan translation based on the anime and manga series Ninku. The fighting game follows the frog-looking character Fūsuke, who is immensely powerful and is from the Ninku school, fighting off the evil corporations named after the Chinese Zodiac animals.
No other translator besides Exxistance is listed in the credits, so we wanted to give everyone a heads up some AI was potentially used in the translation of this project.
While this game isn’t the biggest in demand for a fan translation, it’s a quirky little fighting game based on an anime series, and everyone should give it a try!
If you’d like to patch ...

SEGA Account seems to need a lot more work before getting on Nintendo or PlayStation's level of accounting.

Nintendo and Playstation have to got make them right since they're tied on how it affect theor gaming console sales.
SEGA doesn't have that kind of pressure now.

True, but I don't see why they needed to make the hype if they couldn't release the games with consistency.

That's what fans hoped but if it meant like Sonic games consistency which it must have at least one game every year eventhough it's a bad one like Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric then I'be disappointed.
SEGA had learned from the lesson of Sonic bad games and I'd side with them for this. Better wait until the game's polished than having it released unpolished just to meet the consistency demand.

The "Sega Renaissance" as I call it, released quite a few games in the span of 2020-'22, with 2020 alone with Streets of Rage 4, Panzer Dragoon and Kinda Funky Newsflash. And Sega didn't even develop or produce any of the "Sega Renaissance" games, nor marketed them collectively.

And thankfully it's still continuing with Rent A Hero Z, Shenmue 3 Enhanced, Panzer Dragoon Zwei Remake, and Ecco The Dolphin Complete.
And also there's a rumour that Guardian Heroes (celebrated its 30th anniversary in January 2026) is having something in the work.
Still unclear if it's a new game, remastered, book, or just merchs like T-Shirts and figures.

That and Nintendo and PlayStation networks have been around for years. I "might" own a Nintendo account, but it's been so long I might've forgotten it.

If Sega are going to do a year-long campaign for Sonic, then fans are bound to get at least two games out of it, especially if Sega show their schedule of events.

But what bothers me about, say, "POWER SURGE" is that it promises a bunch of Sega games, hyping us up... and leaves us at that. Why call it a Power Surge? Why not just make commercials or teasers for each game, than this "POWER SURGE" thing? I mean, sure, we got Shinobi, but what about the other games?

I'm glad there is some continuation. Was concerned it ended in 2022 and that it was short-lived.

I think it's because the Power Surge wasn't a thing that brought up by SEGA's higher-ups.
It's from those who are in charge for things to put in Game Awards Show since SEGA have established a notable pattern of making major reveals at the show. You remember these first time reveals, right?
"Sonic Frontiers" in Game Awards 2021, "Stranger than Heaven" in Game Awards 2024, and "Total War: Warhammer 40,000" in Game Awards 2025.

And in 2023, SEGA has too many games in the works (Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Shinobi, Streets of Rage, and Golden Axe) to reveal and they are developed by many different teams.
So instead of picking one, they just pick them all and bundled into "Power Surge".
And that's why after Game Awards 2023 hype is over, they didn't touch that again and moved to focus to another game to reveal for the next Game Awards Show.

So Power Surge was more of a game awards thing and never an intended marketing campaign?

I guess so. They used the phrase "Power Surge" exactly only once, prominently featured during TGA in December 2023.
We never heard they used the "Power Surge" word again after that, right?
Even SEGA higher-ups use the words "Super Game" when mentioning the new Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi, instead of "Power Surge".
Also in the yearly report too :

Happy 31st Anniversary of Sega Saturn's Surprise U.S. Launch

Sega of America president Tom Kalinske announced the $399 console with six launch titles like Daytona USA and Virtua Fighter, aiming to preempt Sony's PlayStation. The early release caught retailers and developers off-guard, and Sony countered with a cheaper $299 machine days later. Despite selling just 2 million units in North America—versus PlayStation's 102 million—the Saturn built a cult following with arcade-perfect ports and gems like Nights into Dreams.
