EGGConsole Puyo Puyo PC-9801 is up on Nintendo eShop

Quote
This game is an action-puzzle title released by COMPILE in 1993 in Japan. Gameplay involves clearing falling Puyos by matching four or more of the same color. Players battle head-to-head, strategically managing Puyos. Stacking Puyos to the top means a loss. Clearing large amounts or triggering chains sends Nuisance Puyos to opponents. Though a falling-block puzzle game, it’s known for strategic depth.

Is this like a reboot of Madō Monogatari but without pre-school Arle sent into a tower of monsters?

Yes. Funny thing is they already rebooted it before (but without Puyo Puyo / original Madō Monogatari characters) as Sorcery Saga (2013 in PS Vita and 2018 in Steam) and fans' reaction kinda mixed about it.

That's why they reboot it again now with Carbuncle and some of Puyo Puyo / original Madō Monogatari characters.

I see. Glad there's less of the child abuse. Speaking of which...
How old is she? Why did her mother allow her to leave the house like that!?

It's still abuse though (adult abuse?) since the basic of the story is kinda the same.
Teach them about magic in academy and then sent them into a tower of monsters ...

only this time it's in order to search the ultimate ingredients needed to make the "Legendary Magic Curry".

They are college students' age, I think.
But the cartoony art styles do make them look like a lot younger.

Yeah, but they're adults- well, old enough to be trained and know what they're getting into in a world of swords and sorcery.

I guess. Still looks like an underdressed child.

The new reboot I think is now consisting more various age range, with the main character is still at high school ages.
I don't know if she's still considered underage or not.
But at least it's not pre-school ages like Arle back then.

I guess so. as long as they're old enough to be trained and consent to entering dungeons with dangerous monsters and life-threatening traps.

I do not want to be the one to tell Arle's parents why she hasn't came back from kidnergarten.

"Well Mr and Mrs Nadja, your daughter was very bright and beloved for a child her age, but she failed the tower dungeon test so she's dead. But hey, don't see it as neglect on our behalf, see it more as Darwinism in action."

I always assume that Arle has no parents, like Harry Potter.
But then I remember that in early games Arle has a mother and grandmother she lives with (no father though).
Yeah, that would be nightmare for the guys who's been tasked to bring the news.

Maybe lawsuit and compensation... or settle the death of their daughter over a Puyo Puyo match.

That's more fitting to Mean Bean Machine's storyline than Puyo Puyo's.
