PlayStation is taking away the legal means of getting digital Project DIVA games on PS3, PSP, and PSVita by shutting down the PS Store, ironically as part of their plan of discontinuing physical media releases.

Sony announced it will stop issuing physical discs for PlayStation games from January 2028 onward and plans to shut down PS3 and PS Vita digital stores between late 2026 and July 2027 depending on region. The decision has sparked gamer outrage, including PlayStation Plus subscription cancellations, boycott threats under hashtags like #NoDiscNoBuy, and lawsuits accusing Sony of monopoly practices. Analysts predict Sony will not reverse the shift to a digital-only ecosystem due to the profitability of digital sales and over 50 million PlayStation Plus subscribers.
