I doubt it. But if they do lenient it, then I'll come back.

Never needed Battle Points for OG PSO2.

I think removing BP wouldn't impact the developer much on the earning side since most of money came from AC Scratch Tickets (Gacha) for exclusive outfits, weapon camos, and emotes.
Frequent collaborations with other anime/gaming franchises (there's always one every month, right?) encourage high spending from whales for limited-time branded cosmetics.
But of course it would impact on how crowded the server will be since BP encourages the F2P player to consistently grind so that they're 'tricked' to play and log in daily. The more crowded the better since since finding groups for dungeons, raids, or PVP is faster and easier. Also adding the "Feeling of Life" thing in the game, since the world feels active and immersive, not like a "ghost town".

But why have BP when it is Levels that dictate how strong you are? It makes little sense to me. I can't even partake in Urgent Quests despite being at a decent level. Because it judges by my BP, not my Lv.

Unlike single payer RPG, in MMORPG level is more for group froming since most people love to hang around with those whose level are kinda same.

But PSO2 can be played alone. Even PSO1 and other older PSO games can still be played solo even though the servers are long gone.

Free to play MMORPG wasn't designed to be played alone. If there are such options to play alone, they're just bonuses, not main features.
The whales wouldn't be happy if nobody saw their money-spent-cosmetics applied to their character because of everyone else playing alone.
And for PSO1 and other older PSO games, they weren't free-to-play games so they couldn't be compared to PSO2/NGS.

Kind of weird seeing childlike drawings of buxom space waifus.

No, we can't play it offline. It is a strictly online-only game that requires an active internet connection and connection to the official servers to play, save our progress, and access the game's servers. It's true that it can be played solo for the most part, but it's still an online-only game with no offline mode. Same with its mobile spinoffs (PSO2es and Idola Phantasy Star Saga).
