SEGA boss wants to revive the SEGA spirit of the 80s and 90s

Quote
Speaking to The Game Business Mr. Utsumi said he wants SEGA to cover all bases going forward and have software for everyone, “I’d really like to revive that SEGA spirit. Sometime around 2000, even around the 1980s, we were regarded as a very cultural company. If you compare it to the music industry, I believe SEGA brings rock and roll. In the arcade business, we really had a rock and roll mindset and trying to provide new stuff. So nowadays, we want Sega to always be trying something different, while ..."

SEGA STORE TOKYO in SHIBUYA PARCO - LAUNCH TRAILER

SEGA is thrilled to announce that SEGA STORE TOKYO, SEGA's first official retail outlet in Japan, has opened on the sixth floor of Shibuya PARCO today on July 18, 2025.

SEGA has created numerous characters and intellectual properties in its more than 60-year history and continues to drive high-quality entertainment content on a global scale through the promotion of the transmedia strategy.

A key part of this endeavor involves opening SEGA STORE TOKYO, the first flagship store in Japan, following the successful May 2025 launch of SEGA STORE SHANGHAI. Located in Shibuya, a hub for Japanese entertainment and culture, SEGA STORE TOKYO offers huge selection of items such as ...

Hm... Like with the Blue Star II on CrossWorlds, I can see they're trying to be incitive to get us to sign up for accounts.
It's just, I believe they could've offered more. Not too much more, but still more.

"Sign up for our thing, and you'll get blue!"

I'm not saying Sega should spoiler those who sign up for Sega accounts, it's just what they're offering is mostly small cosmetic. Which, understandable, they don't want to break their games. But they could at least offer a reskin of Joe instead of a recolour.

What about Joe Mushasi wearing the grey ninja uniform he has in the 1987 arcade? Granted, he didn't have a mask, but could be replaced with a yellow headband.
Or why not have Yamato as an active companion, like he was in Shadow Dancer?
Or an exclusive ninja art scroll?

Actually I'd prefer they limit the SEGA account prize into cosmetic thing.
Having SEGA account should be optional, not mandatory.
Not all gamers who played SEGA games are SEGA fans.
I have a friend who love Yakuza games and has spent 300 hours in a year to play them who's not a SEGA fan.
Others are Football Manager fan who played only that game and Sonic fans who doesn't care about other SEGA games that's not Sonic.
They are not SEGA fans and don't want to have a SEGA account.
They're gonna pissed off if SEGA account gave others who have the account something that affect gameplay.

I guess so. But I imagine Sega would want to encourage your friends to change their mind and entice them.

Like your other Sonic fan friend. I'm not all that interested in getting a Sega Account, either. Which is why I think if Sega wants us to get Sega accounts, they'll need to put more to entice us.

I think SEGA wanted it to be optional too.
Losing fanbase over forcing them to have an account isn't worth it.

OutRun Amiga Edition - A vastly superior fan version of a classic racer has arrived on the Amiga!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZzTp3vSC0g

Quote
In 1986 Sega released one of the greatest racers of our time, it just had to be Out Run. An Arcade racer designed by Yu Suzuki, that was not only a commercial success, but became one of the best selling games of its time. A game that featured incredible graphics, fantastic music and fast paced track racing. Thankfully other people remember this Arcade classic, as we've recently found out, that reassembler has finally released his vastly superior version of Outrun for the Commodore Amiga. A version of the game which he hopes has put right "one of the nastiest Amiga arcade ports".
And here's the latest "An optimized port of SEGA's 1986 arcade game OutRun, utilizing the original 68000 assembly code, to mid-spec Commodore Amiga computers. Whilst small compromises have been made to accommodate differences between the arcade hardware and the Amiga - this looks and plays almost identical to the original. This is not an ...

Not forcing them.

Forcing them would be like how Ubisoft makes you require an account, just to play games you legally purchased.

I'm simply suggesting content that's more worthwhile to offer for those who choose to get a Sega Account than just blue.
