The Video Game History Foundation preserves 147 lost Sega Channel ROMs, including previously unreleased games

Quote
Among all this recovered data is 147 Genesis ROMs used on Sega Channel. That’s right. One Hundred And Forty-Seven. This includes Sega Channel exclusive games never before preserved like Waterworld, The Flintstones, and Garfield: Caught In The Act – The Lost Levels, and it is now available to download via Gaming Alexandria in partnership with the VGHF. That last game took a bit longer than we expected to be released after it was found and demoed just a year ago, but the wait is finally over. We hope you managed to resist kicking anyone off of any tables for a whole year.
Besides just the games, there are also ROMs of Sega Channel menus, some previously archived and some not, some related test ROMs, and even a mock-up of a Genesis web browser planned for the service. You read that right. An honest-to-goodness Web Browser ...

Phantasy Star vs Phantasy Star III

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hEOEL5jxDE

Quote
There were a number of improvements made to the Phantasy Star series between the first and the third game.
The development teams were also different, and that led to some changes in the graphics and storytelling.
Both games are fun RPGs, but they take different approaches to telling their story.

It’s a sad day for all of us Sega fans. One of the most important people in the entire history of Sega has finally left this mortal coil.
David Rosen, the founder of Rosen Enterprises, which would later become the company we all know and love today as Sega, has passed away on December 25th, 2025 at the age of 95 in his Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles home. His funeral was held on January 2nd, 2026 at Inglewood Park Cemetary. News of his passing only just became public on January 2nd courtesy of Replay Magazine.
Very few people in the history of Sega are more worthy of being celebrated than David Rosen. He alone began the chain of events that led to the creation of Sega, and by extension, many of the games they had brought to the world that touched our hearts for decades. Whether it’s ...

Sonic Comes To The Commodore Amiga (In Tech Demo Form, At Least)
Available in both 32 colour and 16 colour versions

Quote
RetroRic has released a playable demo of Sonic's opening stage, running on the Amiga, available in both 32-colour and 16-colour versions. He says the release was inspired by the fact that fellow homebrew coder Reassembler is currently working on a similar project, albeit one with a wider scope.
RetroRic admits that this was "only meant to be a graphical demo", but it soon grew in size and has become an "almost complete level 1 of Mega Drive Sonic the Hedgehog, in both ...

POWER SURGE: SEGA REVEAL TRAILER - TGA 2023

Is there any further news of the Power Surge?

When that was first announced, I was under the impression it was a campaign of new Sega games released in a span of a specific time, a "surge" if you will. So far as got Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, and it was awesome! But it's less of a surge, and more of a mild, prolonged buzz. Barely a static shock from walking barefoot on a carpet and touching a metal door handle sort of zap.

I wasn't expecting all the new Sega games to be released in one go, but what news of the other games? It's been over two years since that Power Surge video was released. I got the Saturn Pro Controller in preparation for it.

Nope. They're taking their time with these games which I think it's a good thing since the game will be polished by the time they're released.
One game for every year, may be?

2025 : Shinobi: Art of Vengeance
2026 : Crazy Taxi
2027 : Jet Set Radio
2028 : Virtua Fighter
2029 : Streets of Rage Revolution
2030 : Golden Axe

That's ages away! I'm patient, but that's still a long time.

Why call it the Power Surge? They might as well call it the Sega Renaissance and marketed along with the Non-Sega games such as Alex Kidd DX and Streets of Rage 4.
