In the Dev Q&A session that happened on June 26, Ed Annunziata confirmed that he was going to talk with SEGA to see if he could bring not only Ecco Jr but also Defender of the Future in his future projects!
If SEGA accepts, this means both Ecco timelines will be finaly back and that we may expect more about the DOTF timeline ! Maybe a potential rebirth of Sentinels of the Universe??? A whole new episode??? We can only hope and dream !"
