Homebrew Dev Acquires 'Tengen' Brand

Now, in 2024, one sole developer by the name of Jeff Silvers has managed to acquire the Tengen name and has used this to create a brand new company called 'Tengen Games'.
According to the website, Silvers had conducted research in 2022 and discovered that nobody owned the Tengen name at the time, so simply began a lengthy process of officially registering it with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The registration is now currently in the 'final stages' of completion.
Rather fittingly, Tengen Games' first title is an unlicensed NES game called Zed and Zee, an 8-bit arcade-style action platformer that can be purchased for the NES, Famicom, and Windows. There's no ...

SEGAbits Presents Arcade Adventure 3: Arcade meetup at Galloping Ghost Arcade in Brookfield, IL on November 2, 2024

For those unaware, Galloping Ghost Arcade is HUGE. Want to play The House of the Dead 1 through 4? How about Monkey Ball with that ridiculous banana joystick? Or maybe you’ve always wanted to play SegaSonic the Hedgehog starring Sonic, Ray and Mighty? They have all those, plus nearly every super scaler game, Sonic the Fighters, Virtua Fighter, Fantasy Zone, Ghost Squad, L.A. Machineguns, Gunblade NY, Shinobi, Altered Beast, The Revenge of Death Adder, All-Stars Racing, and many, many, many more! Heck I’m just naming off a handful of the SEGA titles. There are OVER 1,000 games!
This event requires no advance ticketing or advance access, simply show up to the arcade and pay them $25 for all day play. The arcade is open from 11am to 2pm the following day, and you are free to come and go as you please – just hang on to that receipt. SEGA Plans to Delist SEGA Classics Games starting December 6th.

This news might be disappointing for SEGA fans who care about the preservation of the companies’ rich history of video games ranging from arcade to consoles, including myself and fellow SEGAbits writers. As of now, SEGA plans to delist a selection of games and bundles from virtual stores across gaming platforms including Steam, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Playstation starting on December 6th at 11:59pm PST.
