Sonic Returns to Free Comic Book Day in 2022 With New Story

Quote
Unlike Sonic’s previous FCBD outing, however, this one will take place in IDW’s primary Sonic universe.
The story will directly tie into the comic’s larger ongoing story leading into issue 50.

I wouldn't get my hopes up over it. Likely be a reprint. IDW could of made a spooky-special for 2019 Halloween ComicFest. This was during the Metal Virus arc.

Hm, a current ongoing story arc involving a zombie-likle plague, zombies being traditional with Halloween and an oppotunity for a Halloween special ... I GOT NUTHIN'! REPRINT ISSUE #1!

The synopsis is out as follows:

Sonic’s racing into a brand-new adventure with his best buds (and co-stars of the hit new movie) Tails and Knuckles by his side!
But Sonic’s not the only super-speedster in town…
Get caught up with everything you need to know about Sonic’s evil counterpart Surge before she and Sonic go head-to-head in the epic issue #50, a story years in the making!

Guess it's a prelude story leading into issue #50.

Or a reprint of Imposters.

Could be, but Surge and Kit are new characters, they can always make a new story build around them.

8 pages of new story and the rest are reprints, lol.

Nah, this is Sega's comic division. I think it's likely they'll reprint 'cus it's more conveniant than putting the effort to make an additional issue for one day just for free.

You do remember that FCBD 2021 has 8 pages of new story, right?
And the rest are flashback stories.
Most likely it would be the same with FCBD 2022.

Oooh yeah you're right, sorry. Got confused with the Halloween ComicFest which are the reprints. Well reprint. Only a 2019 issue.

Sonic the Hedgehog's IDW Series Is Trying To Outdo Archie's Best Arc

Quote
In Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog discontinued series, endgame refers to the Operation: EndGame four-issue arc where the traitor Drago the Wolf serves as Sonic's imposter and frames him for killing Princess Sally.
Of course, Surge obviously can't frame IDW's Sonic for murder since she looks nothing like him and is a tenrec, not a hedgehog.
But Dr. Starline does plan on using these imposters against Dr. Eggman much like how Archie's Sonic eventually straight-up murders Dr. Robotnik in Operation: EndGame.
