Kinda but TPB consisted one story arc taken from 4-7 montly issues with hardcover / softcover.
The softcover still uses strong carton paper) so it isn't easily damaged.
Its size is also has to be the same with the monthly issues.
Archives usually doesn't care about its size (they could even be pocket size), its cover quality, or whether the story between issue's connected to other or not.
That's why right now every arc in comic's usually took around 6 issues so that it could be made into TPB.
For people who lives outside USA, pre-ordering TPB every six months is more common than buying single issues every month (which sometimes the cost of shipping is more expensive than the comic itself).

It does sound better than buying comics separately. Especially if you want to catch up.
Yep, I remember that. Seeing the lineup now, Big the Cat as Aquaman's kinda strange though, I thought cat hates water or swimming (but loves fish).
Some specific breeds, like the Turkish Van and Maine Coon, may enjoy swimming. Some have compared Big to a Maine Coon.

But in US montly issues are easily available since they were sold in common stores and supermarket.

I see. Does Big ever swim? (outside the olympic series of course)

Arriving in comic shops this summer, SONIC X GODZILLA #1 brings together writer Nick Marino (GODZILLA RIVALS) and artist Jack Lawrence (SONIC THE HEDGEHOG) for a high-energy adventure that unites the Blue Blur with the King of the Monsters. I believe we have such stores in UK, but I rarely visit the big towns and cities.

He can, but with the Life Belt. It allows him to swim and even float on the surface for fishing.

Do you think IDW Sonic comics sold in those stores? We ain't got them here.

I don't know. But Transformers is just as popular in the UK as it is in America and we have IDW UK LIMITED so I don't see why not.

He's a fisherman, I don't see why he would be.

I see. So you guys got both Sonic comic back then from Fleetway and Archie?

Sometimes fishing is a hobby, not a job. I sometimes go fishing but I can't swim.

We had IDW comics, but not Archie comics. given it was before internet was more household, I didn't even know of Archie Sonic comics during the '90s.

Isn't fishing both a hobby and a job? Though fishing as an occupation often involves boats and nets.

I guess shipping cost was very costly back then from US to UK so no sellers imported the Archie comic.
Or may be because there's already a series from Fleetway so they didn't feel the need to import another version of it.

It could be both but it could be one or the other.
But other than a professional anglers, I never found people's depended on his life just by using a fishing rod.
Fisherman mostly uses fishing net or trawl, not fishing rods.

I believe it's both. Either Archie couldn't afford shipping or didn't want to because they are God-honest 'mercian comics for 'mericans! So we had our own Sonic comic.

True. I mean, loads of mouths to feed. Can't fill up the frozen fish aisle at the supermarkets with just a fishing rod.

We sometimes got Archie comics here though in Indonesia. It was during when Marvel's Onslaught saga and Image Comic's Spawn were popular so comic book sellers started to import them too. That lasts long enough until our country got a crisis where USD to IDR value rocketed high. We never got any Fleetways and of course IDW either.

That's why I kept thinking if Big was a fisherman, he definitely has fishing nets too.
