After years of being nothing more than a topic of discussion, Marvelous has finally revealed the first teaser for Rune Factory 6 during the Special Anniversary Livestream celebrating the franchise's 20th anniversary. The teaser itself is incredibly brief and doesn't reveal much. We see a lone Wooly wandering around before eventually joining a whole herd of other Woolies. Together, they make their way toward an area with a majestic castle standing in the distance. There is currently no information about the protagonist, where this location is, what the gameplay will be like, or when the game will be released. For now, Marvelous has yet to provide any further details beyond this short teaser.
After spending a considerable amount of time in Early Access, Starsand Island has finally reached its 1.0 release. However, instead of becoming the long-awaited milestone many players were hoping for, the full release has drawn quite a bit of criticism from reviewers, particularly regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 version, which is considered to be far from ideal for a game that has officially left Early Access. One of the biggest issues is performance. The Quality Mode, which is supposed to target 30 FPS, still suffers from significant frame rate drops, while Performance Mode relies on an uncapped frame rate despite previously being advertised as targeting 60 FPS, and it remains far from stable. The problem becomes even more noticeable due to severe texture and object pop-in, with some elements only appearing when players get very close to them. Things can get even worse when using vehicles. The skateboard, for example, has reportedly caused the character to repeatedly bounce around, making it difficult to use properly. The technical problems don't stop there. The initial loading time can reportedly take around 8–10 minutes, while transitioning between areas can take roughly 45 seconds to more than a minute. Dungeon lighting also suffers from noticeable pop-in, alongside various bugs that can cause characters, animals, and objects to appear in unintended positions.Unfortunately, performance isn't the only concern. NPC interactions are considered fairly shallow, while some dialogue can feel inconsistent. The world of Starsand Island itself has also been criticized for feeling rather empty, despite the relationships with its characters and the unique island community being some of the aspects heavily promoted before release. Even the promise of expanded voice acting for various characters doesn't appear to have been fully realized in version 1.0.Meanwhile, the multiplayer feature introduced with the 1.0 release does bring some interesting ideas. Players can set permissions when visiting someone else's island while still bringing their own characters and progression with them. However, this feature also comes with its own technical issues, including a messy interface, broken-looking text, and HUD elements that can sometimes overlap.Despite all these problems, Starsand Island still has some genuinely promising aspects. Its crafting system is one of its stronger points, offering fairly deep production chains. The building system and multiplayer also have plenty of potential, at least in terms of their underlying concepts. With the game in its current state, it's understandable that some players are questioning whether Starsand Island was really ready to leave Early Access, or whether some of its major issues should have been addressed before making the jump to version 1.0.

Light novel author Nazuna Miki dropped an uncomfortable truth for the industry by stating that slice-of-life stories and yuri simply don't sell outside of Japan, no matter how much buzz and good reviews they get online. It turns out the writer explained that current anime needs to recoup up to 70% of its budget from the international market. For this reason, while isekai rakes in cash effortlessly on streaming, foreign audiences hardly connect with school clubs or romances that don't move the economic needle.Basically, he made it clear that social media praise doesn't fund productions, and it's no use having a community cheering online if those numbers ultimately don't justify renewing a series for a second season.Online applause is loud, but the money that funds the industry is still stuck in parallel universes.
