GiGO Akihabara Arcade, Previously SEGA World, Set to Close Next Month in Tokyo

If you do happen to be in the area on September 25th, GiGO Akihabara Building 4 (Tokyo-to, Chiyoda-ku, Sotokanda 1-15-9) will hold some kind of farewell celebration, which could entail food, festivities, and possibly some giveaways, although we don’t expect them to gift any full-sized arcade machines.
 Fortunately, three more GiGO Akihabara Arcade locations will remain after this one closes, but Building 4 not only housed a plethora of games, but also a cafe used for many collaborative events.

UK-based Funbox Entertainment Ltd has been acquired by Sega Amusements International.

The acquisition was announced by Paul Williams, CEO and owner of Sega Amusements International, with FunBox Entertainment UK and its sister company in Germany, FunBox Gmbh, being incorporated into a new holding company, Urban Fun Ltd.
FunBox was first seen at Gravity Wandsworth, London and will shortly open in Liverpool and Westfield Stratford.

The popular expo will run from September 15-18, at the ExCeL centre on London’s docklands.
SEGA will be at stands 518 and 617 at IAAPA in London.

The SMARTS Augmented Reality system takes interactive darts to the next level.
Using a plain white dartboard, the gameplay graphics are superimposed over the board and surrounding area with an ultra bright, laser projector.

Fans Bid Farewell to Akihabara's Iconic GiGO  (formerly Sega) Arcade #4

Fans have documented the closing ceremony across social media; the photos and videos indicate that an impressive crowd gathered to celebrate the arcade's over decade-long existence.
After a day-long countdown that ended at 8 p.m., the store and café owners came out to make speeches thanking the fans for their loyal support over 11 years.
The staff then finally closed the shutters for the final time.
