Universal Pictures To Adapt Shinobi On The Big Screen

Universal Pictures will be producing a film adaptation of SEGA’s Shinobi  and the studio has enlisted “Extraction” filmmaker Sam Hargrave and producer Marc Platt to adapt the ninja action-packed franchise for the big screen.
Ken Kobayashi, known for his work on “Sunny” and “Move On”, will be writing the screenplay for “Shinobi.”

Sonic with Paramount, Streets of Rage with Liongate, Shinobi with Paramount... is it normal for corporations to pick multiple studios for adaptions?

The movie producers are the one who pick what games they are gonna adapt to the movie and then contact the game company who owns the franchise.
The franchise owners then who decided with yes or no.

It's expected for them to use what the modern equipment and SFX on hand, that's understandable. It feels like it's just as expensive for studios to use old fashion or vintage means of filming than it is using computer special effects.
As long as they keep that old world, slightly creepy look the original had.

Like a Dragon: Yakuza is a decent watch, though not without its flaws. I don't know why but the director didn't want put karaoke scene (or any side quest thing from the game) in the series.
That's why Ryoma Takeuchi (the actor who plays Kiryu) made this video for the fans.
