‘Sonic the Hedgehog' 2028 Spinoff Movie Sparks Fan Theories

Quote
As for Dr. Robotnik, who seemingly died sacrificing himself to save the planet at the end of the last movie, actor Jim Carrey did previously hint that he’d be game to play Eggman again if the story was right.
“I'm definitely open. I'm open to the idea, and generally, they come to me with the next idea, and if I go, ‘That sounds fun,’ then I'll do it. I don’t feel locked to anything in life, unless it's something that interests me,” Carrey told ...

Idris Elba, the voice of Knuckles in the Sonic movies, is set to receive a knighthood, meaning Knuckles will officially be portrayed by a real-life Sir.

Quote
The UK’s New Year Honours List has been revealed, confirming that Idris Elba is set to receive a knighthood. The recognition places Elba among a small and prestigious group of actors whose careers have left a lasting mark on both film and  video games, giving  Sonic the Hedgehog fans and gamers alike a reason to celebrate.
The New Year Honours List is a long-running British tradition that recognizes individuals awarded honors by the reigning monarch, currently King Charles. These honors are granted for achievements ranging from charity work to cultural contributions, and Elba’s extensive body of work across film, television, and  games has earned him one of the highest distinctions available. Once formally invested, he will be known as Sir Idris Elba.Sonic merchandise
For Sonic fans, that distinction comes with a fun implication. Elba has voiced Knuckles the Echidna since the ...

Untitled Sonic Universe Spin-Off Film Listed With December 2028 Target Release

Quote
A Marketing Partnerships listing has surfaced referencing an untitled Sonic Universe spin-off film, currently targeting a December 22, 2028 release date.
While no characters, plot details, or creative talent have been revealed, the wording suggests a standalone story designed to expand the Sonic movie universe rather than directly continue the mainline film narrative.
The description attached to the listing reads:
"From the billion-dollar Sonic the Hedgehog franchise comes an untitled spinoff film expanding the universe with a ..."

Some believe it's gonna be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle crossover, others believe it will star other Sonic characters, with Team Sonic not being the main characters.

I found another fan film! Add it to the list.

Not as on budget as other fan films I've seen, but I see the effort put into it.

Not that I'm blaming the boys or criticising their hard work, but I wish they had more of a budget to work with. It's as if anyone who makes a Capcom fan film just so happen to have the budget to make it near-cinematic quality! Put "Resident Evil fanfilm" in YouTube's search and take your pick as an example. But when it comes to fanfilms for Sega, barely much of a budget. (I did found this while I was browsing, though. Is it already on the list?)

Again, not blaming those boys for working with what they got. It's just it's on more "sweded" levels of filmmaking than other fanfilms. I'm not gonna dox them, but I'm curious what city they live in and what other available places they could've shot in. For example, where I live we "had" an abandoned hotel where John Lennon once stayed, but last time I checked it was being demolished and done-up for flats.

I'm sure they wish the same too.
I'm sure they wish they had more of a budget to work with.
But if they wait until the budget is enough, most likely time had pass a lot and they could lost the interest or motivation of doing that or already busy with another things.
So it's still best they did what they could while the passion was still alive.

That's true. And it's "better than nothing". Absolute props for them in trying, even if it looks sweded.

And given the original game had a limited story, I like how they incorporated it. Such as having one of the generic scientist victims be a third character to the group for expositions.

‘Angry Birds’ Licensing Merges with SEGA's Global Operations

Quote
The integration directly supports the core goals of SEGA’s acquisition of Rovio, which aimed to rapidly expand both companies’ fanbases by sharing know-how and supporting the cross-platform expansion of Rovio’s IP using SEGA’s capabilities. By joining forces, Rovio and SEGA are now positioned to uncover new synergies and reach more territories, leveraging SEGA’s “recipe” for building brand longevity.
The new arrangement introduces a consolidated, global strategy for both consumer products (CP) and location-based entertainment (LBE) and allows for Rovio and SEGA to pursue direct licensing relationships worldwide, with a key focus on ...

Producer Brad Fuller: "Outrun is based on a Sega video game. It was a driving game in the 80s. Michael Bay has always wanted to do a driving movie."

Quote
Fuller also said. “I am very invested in Sydney Sweeney. She has been supportive of our company for a long time. I felt since Sydney has brought us two things that I would like to return the favor. Outrun is perfect for her. Sydney actually works on her own cars. That’s not fake. She is a gearhead. I put Michael with Sydney at Universal and I think they are starting to figure out the script right now.”
Out of all of the video games that you can build a film with, why would Bay and Sweeney choose Outrun? If you’re ...
