Is there any fresh news on the development of these films in 2026?

No news yet for Streets of Rage and House of the Dead movie.
For Outrun movie, the good news is the project is moving forward and is actually right up Michael Bay and Sweeney’s alley, but Sweeney's kinda busy. She has several more movies coming up with OutRun being just one of them.

Golden Axe animated series has no news too, but if you're craving for Golden Axe-like movie you can watch Red Sonja (2025).
Red Sonja is like Tyris, the difference is she's not from royalty.
The story's about a young girl who rises from the ashes of tragedy to become the most feared warrior woman of all time: the She-Devil with a Sword.

It's kinda enjoyable considering it's just a straight up to streaming movie (not aired in Cinema) to Amazon Prime, Fandango At Home, and Apple TV with kimited budget.
Too bad the ending is kinda weak. SPOILER No boss battle in the finale.  It would be nice if there's a DEATH ADDER-like villain in the movie. SPOILER END.

I hope these movies are still in development and not quietly cancelled.

I'm curious how they will adapt a driving film. With Micheal Bay involved, probably onna have explosions.

I have already seen the movie, though may watch again sometime. I'm a fan of the 1982 Conan film, but I have watched it so often that I'm hoping the new Red Sonja film would be the first of a new franchise of Conan films.

But the Red Sonja film hasn't had much praise as I hoped.

I think it's safe since SEGA's recently adding 'The House of the Dead" and "Streets of Rage" T-Shirts at their SEGA Shop and Amazon so the franchises are still geting their attention.

There'll be explosion yeah but not so much. Brad Fuller (the producer) said that Michael Bay has always wanted to do a driving movie and he knows Outrun is a driving game.

Ah yeah, no need the spoiler tag then.
It flew under the radar for most people since it's not on Netflix, Paramount Plus,or Disney Plus.
When a guy in a hood showed up in the ending, I was expecting it will be Conan but sadly he isn't.

Is there a movie you regard a favourite or at least a masterpiece, but you've watched it so often that the novelty has worn away? I like the Conan film, but lament its sequels were not as good, and that we will never have films of that quality again.

I was hoping Red Sonja would bring back hype for more Conan or Hyborian films, but because it had such a low-key debut, concerned it won't.
Also, like most Hollywood films, it's heavy on special effects. Sure it had some good set designs, but also use of special effects.

Now the new Deathstalker movie, that was great! It stuck with special effects they had in the mid-'80s but good humour made it an enjoyable film.

Hey, not all of them though, he also made Pain & Gain (2013) which's focusing more on characters and crime.

Yes, Shaolin Soccer from Stephen Chow. Watched it many times until I finally remember every scene and be bored with it.

It corporates all anime/comic effect perfectly into the movie which for me couldn't be surpassed by any Stephen Chow's movie after that (CJ7, The Mermaid, Kung Fu Hustle).

Fun and nostalgic trailer. Has it been released?

I do like the mid-90s Miami vibe of it, if Bay put that energy and vibrancy in the Outrun movie, it be good.

Exactly! And you wish there was more movies like it, but alas Hollywood has yet to deliver. Especially given films back then were before movies with slathered in CGI and filters.

This is what I had hoped for in the Red Sonja movie. As well as upcoming Golden Axe films. That it pays more homage to Conan's film over Hollywood's digital standards these days.

Still, I don't mind if they use some degree of modern special effects (like a wizard casting spells), just no need to be heavy with it.

Yes. I've seen it. It's awesome. I was surprised that, for a 2025 film, it's standards of special effects is as it was in the original tetralogy of the films (1983-1990). While this may make the film seem cheap, it's writing and humour really carries it.

Yeah, he got the potential to do it right.
Just stick to the first game as source material and don't show him Outrun's sequel games though.

I dunno if the film will be of my interest, but I'll give it a watch.

I would be disappointed, but as someone who is not at all that interested in Star Trek, I legit enjoyed Lower Decks. While it didn't get me to become a "Trekkie", I appreciate that it was both tongue-in-cheek humour and love and respect for the series. It made me appreciate Star Trek knowing it doesn't take itself seriously.
So knowing the same people who made Lower Decks are making Golden Axe animated TV series, I trust it's in good hands and looking forward to it.

I just wish it had more of an audience. Though, to be fair, I don't think the Deathstalker series had much of an audience to begin with, given most sword and sorcery movies at the time were riding on Conan's coattails at the time.

I regard Conan's movie a work of cinematic art. But I lament there's little else like it elsewhere... Well, the 2006 Slavic film Wolfhound I would describe is like a cross between Conan the Barbarian and Lord of the Rings in cinematic quality. It comes close IMHO.

Also, I watched Shaolin Soccer for the first time after you recommended it, it was a fun film!

Yep, sadly there are still no news about it.

Oh, never watched Wolfhound, I'll put it on my watch list. I didn't even know there's a new Deathstalker until you mentioned it. My youtube or facebook algorithm never bring me into the trailer or news about it.

Also, I watched Shaolin Soccer for the first time after you recommended it, it was a fun film!

Well, if you enjoyed it, "Kung Fu: Hustle", "Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons", and "Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back" could be next.
They were also produced and co-written by Stephen Chow.

True... especially the slim-pickings we got.

F' YouTube algorithm! I remember a time before the algorithm where it showed videos of genuine interest. Then it didn't.

I've seen Kung Fu Hustle plenty of times. And I might have seen those Journey to the West films, but i've seen quite a few adaptions of Journey to the West.

Don't forget the sequel: Dead and Deader.
It's originally titled House of the Dead 3, but the name dropped they failed to get the licensing from the name.

Yeah, all we need is relevance but they are now prioritizing engagement (clicks, watch time) over strict relevance.

This one is different, at least for the first movie (Conquering the Demons).
You won't find the kind and funny version of Sha Wujing, Pig Demon, or Sun Go Kong here.
They are all still a brutal and evil demons who won't hesitate to kill and eat humans, even children.

Yeah, I dunno if it still counts given how far away it was from both source material and licencing. Did Sega even put their name on it?

I miss pre-Google Youtube era. I wonder why people aren't flocking over to Dailymotion or vimeo if Youtube has become too strict? Though I guess YouTubes success is also because of Google being a monopoly of sorts.

I think SEGA refused to give a license for this one, reason unknown.

Unlike youtube, dailymotion or vimeo are blocked in some countries.
My country blocked vimeo too.

I see but this one's supposed to be memorable since Sun Go Kong is evil, cunning, and ugly.
Other movies usually portrayed him as a handsome monkey, but not this one.

Did he started out good and end up bad? Just as Sun Wukong started out bad and ended up good?

I'll watch it again sometime. Been ages since I watched it.

Damn. So YouTube does have the monopoly of sorts.

It already has a very strong creator ecosystem with monetization (AdSense) that's really hard to beat especially with powerful giant Google backing (funding, infrastructure, servers).

Usually he started out bad and end up good, this one stays bad all the time.
