This is just marketing pheripheral to get people interested for Nintendo Online Service for Switch.
It's not full console since it couldn't stand alone and needing Switch console to run.
It does stand alone though, comes with a stand.

I kid.
Okay but not just Twitter image, now IMGUR too?
Damn man, what's happened to your country, lol.
I dunno anymore. I'm hoping these laws will get repealed once Keir Starmer goes, but whenever the next Prime Minister is any better, they'll likely just sit on those old laws.

UK citizens can't even browse porn any more unless they provide proof of ID. Granted this was because for well-being of children, but why should the whole country have to put up with child-laws over bad parenting?

That's where Nintendo's winning I guess.
Mario is both loved by Japan and western.
Meanwhile Turo Inoue, Tōko Madobe, and Segata Sanshiro stayed in Japan.

Turo Inoue does look more like an Animal Crossing character than a PlayStation character. And never heard of Tōko Madobe. She looks like a "Windows Hard Girl".

Hey, that's how it feel to be in our country.
We can't browse porn because government banned them since ... 1962 I think.

So I browse X yesterday when I found someone shared a pic from Playstation of Japan.

Toro Inoue, Astro Bot, and Ape Escape Monkey ... they are all now the mascots for PlayStation in Japan.

Jeeze, that's unfair!
Luckily, not all sites are blocked.

I didn't know Ape Escape was one of Sony's mascots. I know their games were just as popular in the West as they were in Japan.

Oh give it a time.
They'll also be blocked soon.
Our government's already blocking GROK, Reddit, Vimeo, and 4-chan due to pornography concern.

I was gonna say why not using Kratos since Kratos has more games than Ape Escape, then I remember Toro and Astrobot's having less games than them.
So I guess those three are picked because of their cuteness.
May be the reason Puyo Puyo is more popular than Sonic in Japan because they're having a cuter design.

It feels less like an "Online Safety Act" and more like an Online Surveillance Act. It should be the parents that monitor children's activity on the internet, not the government. In the government doing so, it's not just taking a responsibility from the parent but their right to do so. And for what? To ensure identification is provided online under the assurance it's "secured"?
Meanwhile, what do the OSA do about predators on Discord, Roblox, Fallout or other games marketed for children? Or underground child trafficking? If anything, these laws would encourage more people to find means to skirt these laws for illicit content, which further blurs the line between genuine criminals and people who become outlaws because of too many laws.

At what point did Prime Ministers or UK government looked over at countries with strict monitoring laws, or at least read the book or seen the film "1984" and thought "Hey, that looks like a good idea!"

I think the reason why Kratos wasn't chosen as PlayStation's mascot is because... well, who do you find approachable?

This guy?

A confident cartoon hedgehog and his quirky kid sidekick! He looks fun and exciting. And look at the idelic paradice he is running through. How pretty.

Or what about this guy?

A chubby fellow. He seems friendly and approachable. Sort of like a fun uncle-like figure. He too comes from a colourful world full of interesting characters.

Then you have this guy...

Would you feel comfortable approaching him? I mean, he has a son now, so he must be good with kids... right?

Wow. It's like a beginning of a paranoid government.
Hope it doesn't end up like China.
First online surveillance everywhere, and then suddenly the country has a Social Credit System (SCS) that scores individuals and businesses based on their trustworthiness.

Not if we use that picture.
But if we use these, he looks like a fun dad and approachable enough.
